Public School, end was there for
13 years. Then he taught for eight
years at Bridgeport and came hem
six years ago.
In Clinton he 'took a keen inter-
e4t in affait5el,, town and for two
years was secretary of the Clinton
and District chatriber of Complex-
ce. lie was a member and elder
of Ontario Street United Church,
was a member of the Masonic
lodge, and a past noble grand of
the IOOF lodge.
He was twice married, his first
wife being the former Eliza Thom-'
pson, of Clinton.,

afternoon, April for Edwin A.

near his 1400. in Vancouver the

Mr. Johnston was born at Qin-,
ten,. Ontario, and went west to
Souris, Man,, in 1902; 1314. he
moved to Regina, and a Year later
joined tiw fire department,
Mr, Johnson retired in 1943 and
moved. 0 Calgary; A year later
he MVO to Vancouver.
He is survived by his wife, and

Mrs, Wendorf :had lived at
ley until her marriage in 1920,
when she and her husband moved
to Clinton
At the time of her death, Mrs,
Wendorf Was music supervisor in
the Goderich Public SehOol, Aivia
Hugh ,QamphelT Public School -at
RCAF Station Clinton, some Hul-
lett Township and Goderich Town-
ship 'public. schools,-.as well as hav-
ing a number of private pUpils.
She was very well known
throughout the schools of this part
of the countyr and in the past had •
supervised music in Tuckersmith,
MoKillOp and ,Stariloy TownShips.
A tribute from one Of her pupils
expresses the regard in which she'
was held by all who knew, her:
"She was, a patient, most under-
standing teacher. Surely her life
was one of service,"
Her pupils m a d e excellent
showing at the Hullett Township
music festival held last month, and
she was preparing many entries
for the Huron County music festi-
vals at Goderich, which began to-
day. She was a member of Ontar-
io Street United Church, .
Surviving • besides. her husband;
are one daughter, Mrs. Gregory
DarVille, Winnipeg; one sister,
Mrs. Thomas Lowery and one
brother,. Truman, both of Chesley.

Surviving besides his wife, the
former Ida M. Ball, are two aunts,
Mrs. William Higgins, Clinton, and
Mrs, William Luff, Hamilton.
Service was conducted at the
Ball and Mutch funeral home, on
Tuesday afternoon, by the Rev, A.
Glen Eagle, and interment was
made in Exeter Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Frank Penne-
baker, Cyril Oke, Roland Luff, Rus-
sell Thompson, Gormeley Thomp-
son, Mark Armstrong. Flowerbear-
ers were, II, E. Hartley, George
Falconer, Alvin Sharp, Benson Sut-
ter, George H. Jefferson, W. N.
Counter.
Mrs. A. Shanahan
Requiem high mass was sung in
Holy Angels Roman Catholic
Church, St. Thomas, on Monday
morning, for Mrs. Ada Shanahan,
Clinton area resident for the past
40 years, who died at the residen-
ce of her sister, Mrs. Stella Elms,.
33 Horton street, St Thomas, on
Friday • evening, April 27. Inter-
ment was in Holy Angels Ceme-
tery. -
Mrs. Shanahan, who had been
in poor health for several months,
had been staying with her sister
since last fall. She was born at
Glanworth, a daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs, Joshua Kindree.
Mrs. Shanahan was a member of
St. Joseph's Roman Catholic. Chur-
ch, Clinton. She also was a mem-
ber of the Altar Society and the
Catholic Women's League and was
active in the Clinton Hospital Aux-
iliary.
She is survived by her husband,
John F. Shanahan, RR 1, Clinton,
and two sisters, Mrs. M. J. (Onah)
Callaghan; Toronto, and Mrs. Elms,
Mrs. Lillie Johnson
Mrs. Lillie Johnson, 73, Hensall,
widow of the late William John-
son, died Tuesday in South Huron
'Hospital, Exeter, where she had
been a patient for two months.
She was born in Clinton, the
former Lillie Moore and she mov-
ed to Hensall 12 years ago from
Brantford. She was a member of
Hensall United Church. Her hus-
band-died a number of years ago,
'Surviving is one daughter, Mrs.
Dorothy Gallienne, Hamilton,
Resting at the Bonthron funeral
home Hensall, where service will
be conducted Thursday afternoon,
commencing at 2 p.m. Burial will
be in Clinton Cemetery.

London, and Bern, Sault Ste Mar-
ie; a sister and one brother, Mrs.
Clarence Sturdy, Clinton, and Er-
nest Little, Goderich; and ten
grandchildren, Another son, Har-
old Miller, Sault Ste Marie, pre-
deceased her.
Funeral service was from the
Evans funeral home, Richmond
street and Central avenue, London,
on Tuesday afternoon, to Clinton
Cemetery. Th e Rev. Anne
Graham, Rowntree Memorial Uni-
ted Church, former assistant min-
ister of Metropolitan Church offic-
iated in London and at the grave-
side Rev.*H. C. Wilson conducted
the service.
PaIl-bearers were: Sam Elackall,
Sarnia, and five nephews, Jack
Harry, Ford and Frank Little,
Goderich; Jack Sturdy, Clinton.

A former Clinton woman, Mrs.
Helen Pearl Miller, died on Sunday
in St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
in her 64th year. She lived at 195
Hyman street: in the city since
leaving Sault Ste. Marie, 14 years
ago.
Born in Hullett Township, she
was the wife^ of James B. Miller,
Clinton. She was a former meni-
er of Holmesville United Church,
and while in London attended the
Metropolitan United Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs.
M. (Doris) Batkin, Clinton; three
