Chicago Black Hawke did riot do as well in the National
Hockey League as their namesakes in the Kinsmen Pee Wee

With Three
Teams Deadlocked
After playing all the games, 'the
three teams, Clinton, Phillipsburg
and Kincardine, have decided ab-
solutely nothing. Each won two
games and lost twice and are
deadlocked with four points.
During the past week Kincar-
dine and Phillipsburg have played
two games'' with Phillipsburg tak,
ing the first, in New Hamburg,
11-5 and Kincardine winning their
home game Monday night 5-2.
Clinton Colts had previously split
With each -team, winning both their
home games while losing on the
road.
Decide In Kincardine
Managers of the three clubs met
after the Monday night game in
Kincardine and as a result Clinton
and Kincardine will meet in a best
two out of three series. The win-
ner will play Phillipsburg for the
championship. Dates for the Cline
ton-Kincardine series are: Wednes-
day, March 28 in Clinton, end Sat-
urday, March 31 in Kincardine.
The third game, if necessary,' will
be played in Kincardine, on Mon-
day, April 2.

Party Held For
Harry Hayter
A very pleasant evening was
spent 'Saturday, March 24, at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hay-
ter, celebrating the 80th birthday
of his father, Harry Hayter.
Progressive euchre was the
theme of the evening. All the
family was present with the excep-
tion' of Mrs. Marvin (Florence)
Routzon, New Berlin," New York.
Mee. William Hayter read a
very expressive address and Mrs.
Cecil Dowson presented the gifts.
A sumptuous lunch was the finale
of the evening.

In the third Dave McLennan and
Smith really- started to roll and
before Maple Leafs could get set,
tied they had combined fer two
goals to put Black Hawks in front
for the first time. Ray Garon and
McRae combined agein a few min-,
utes later to tie -things, at 3-3, and
McRae scored hie second gpal of
the game with Garon assisting as
Leafs surged in front for the third
time.
John 'and Dave McLennan pro-
vided the necessary scoring punch
to turn the tide .of battle with both
plays set up by George Sinith,
Following the game Dave Mc-
Lennan, 'captain of the Black
Hawks, received the Tip-Top Tall,
or trophy' on behalf of his team.

Play Wiarton
This Friday
The all-star peewee hockey team
picked from the Kinsmen sponsor-
ed town' league will play Wiarton
Peewees on Friday afternoon. This
will be the first game for the Clin
ton team in the Young Canada
Week hockey tourney which gets
tinder way in Goderich on Friday
and continues until a week from
this Saturday.
Last year the Kinsmen entry
won their, first game but were el-
iminated in the second round. 'It
is hoped that this year's team will
better that showing and if recent
practice sessions- are any indicat-
ions there should be little worry in
that regard.
Game time for the first game is
6.90 p.m.

Leafs, Hawks Win
Semi-Final Games
In Peewee Hockey
Maple Leafs and Black Hawks
who finished in a tie for the leag-
ue lead in the regular schedule
earned the right to meet in the
finals. Leafs downed ,Canadiens
6-1 and Hawks laced Red Wings
15-6 in the sudden-death semi-
final games played at the Lions
Arena last Friday evening.'
Borden McRae was the stand-
out for Leafs in their win. The
scrappy centreman scored twice
and assisted in three other goals.
Ray Garon scored three times for
Leafs. Little Bob Livermore play-
ed a terrific game and scored Can-
adien's only goal.
This game started out as though
it was going to be a battle be-
tween the rival goaltenders. There
was no scoring 'in the first period
but Leafs' broke loose in the second
with five to sew up the contest.
Black Hawks spotted Red Wings
an early first period goal by Roger
Cummings and roared back with
five markers before the period
ended to go on to a very impress-
ive 15-6 win over the luckless Red
Wings.
Dave McLennan was the big
man for the Hawks scoring seven
goals and four assists. George
Smith, John McLennan, Butler
and J. Bellamy were the other
Black Hawks who played well,
Cummings! with three, Bud Boyes
two, and Thompson scored the
goals for Red Wings,
