Sets Committees
At the regular Monday council
meeting, J. A. Patterson reported
tax arrears of $1,181.11, or a little
over two percent tor 1955.
The treasurer suggested the pre-
payment of -some- of the county
rate. Council decided to pay $6,-
000.00 of the Huron County taxes
in advance.
Committees appointed: - street
committee, Lorne Luker, John
Henderson; property committee,
Harry Hoy, Jim. Sangster, with the

reports were given.
It was decided to order more
broadcloth for the making of quil-
ts and also for the ladies to take
lunch. to the social evening spons-
ored by the parsonage board, to be
held in Bayfieid, Friday, February
24,
Two crib quilts were quilted
during the a.fterpoon.
Readings were given by Mrs.
Elgin Cox. The meeting closed
with the lVfizpah' benediction and
the hostess served lunch. The
March meeting will be at the home
of Mrs. Allen Bettlee.'

At the annual meeting of the
United Church, Monday, February
6, when it was reported that $11,-
600 had been raised for all pur-
poses, Rev. C. D. Daniel chaired
the meeting,
Mr. George Follick gave a com-
plimentary "address—refereing to
the esteem in which Rev. and Mrs.
Daniel are held, Mrs. S. Rennie
made the presentation of a beaut-
iful bouquet.

held their meeting February 13,
at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Bert
Shobbrook, with 20 present,
The broadcast was listened to
and two groups were formed for
discussion on "government or pro-
ducer marketing." The forum
was not in favor of government
controlled marketing as it was felt
that . it would lead to controlled
production.
Ted Hunking then conducted the
business period. The next meet•

Mr and Mrs. Wilmer Howatt.,

an attendance of 11. The W.A.

for the WA. • Ways and means of
making money were discussed and
a social evening was mentioned.
Mrs: W. S. Whyte, group leader,
took over for the WMS. Ste-ward-
ship reading was given, by Mrs,
Brown, and the study book was
on "new immigrants" and was tak-
en by Mrs. Whyte and Mrs. V.
Dale. Constance ladies are- invited
to Londesboro on the World's Day
of Prayer, Friday, February 17.
