Cooper, an electrical engineer,
leaves on February 26, to fly to
Peshawar, Pakistan He is being
sent to that locality for three and
a half years by the Canadian Com,
stock Company. His work will be
to teach the 'natives how to open
ate a hydro-electrical ,generatotr
being supplied to Pakistan under
the British Colombo Plan.
.Sunday School
The teachers and staff of St.
Andrew's United Church Sunday
School met at the home of the.
superintendent, George Simons, on
Thursday last. The work of the
school was discussed and it was
decided to .commence a nursery
class, ages two and .a half to four
years. Miss Anna Porter will have
charge of this class.
The subject of the Lesson for
last Sunday was, "Why Thank
God?" and next Sunday the gen-
eral topic will be "What to gay
when we pray."
United Church WA
The Woman's Association of St.
Andrew's United Church met at
the home of Misses A. M. and E.
J. Stirling. on Thursday.
The Devotional period was con-
ducted by the first vice-president,
Mrs. Lindsay Smith. Presiding for
the business session was the past
president, Mrs. Rose Scotchmer.
A report from. the parsonage
committee was read. It Was- de-
cid to re-decorate several rooms in
the parsonage.
Twenty-four members answered
the roll call by giving their
weights. Next month each mem-
ber is to answer by giving a small
item for the church kitchen.
A Valentine social was planned
for Friday evening, February 19,
to be held in the basement' of the

Poth will show and explain pic
tures taken at Key West, Florida,
and on their return trip to Bay-

Guild Party
A very enjoyable party under
the auspices of Trinity Church
Guild was- held in the Parish Hall
on Friday evening. There were
eight tables playing euchre and
two of bridge. Prizes went to
Mrs. Orval McClinchey (high),
Mrs. Gordon D. Scotchmer con-
solation), Milton Pollock (high),
Kenneth Pollock (consolation) in
euchre. The bridge priies went
to Mrs. James A. Cameron and
Roy Fitzsimons. Lucky chair
prize, Mrs. Wilfred Turner. Lunch
served by the ladies brought a
very pleasant evening to a close.
Friends of Dr. and Mrs. P. Yates
(formerly of Clinton) were, de-
lighted to hear that their work in
Nigeria as medical missionaries
had been honoured by their pres-
entation to Queen Elizabeth II
and the Duke of Edinburgh, last
week.

A Junior Farmers curling bon-
spiel is' scheduled to take place in
the curling rink at Seafarth on
Monday evening, March 5, when

. The -regular monthly meeting
of the- Woman's Association of
Knox United Church was held on
Tuesday evening. The Sunny Circle
was in, charge of the program.
The devotional period was led
by Mrs. Maurice Bean with Mrs.
R. D. Mtinro at the piano. The
meeting openedwith the hymn, "I
Need Thee Every Hour", followed
by Scripture reading by Mrs. N.
Mogridge. Mrs. Margaret R. Jack-
