Fletchet pu?led the visitors within striking distance with two quick goals be- fore the period ended but that was as close as the Alerts could get. Clinton outscored the visitors 4-1 in the second and continued, the route in the final period with five more goals. Murray Colquhoun and MeEwap were top snipers for Clinton with three goals each, Hartley scored two and Strong, 'Hanly, Lee and Garon all flashed the red light once. The shorthanded Colts had to battle from behind all the way and were fortunate to come out on top. Reeves and Mason gave Black- well a 2-0 lead with the only goals of the first period. Clinton found the range early in the second as Holmes, Lee and Hanly all con- meted before the 10 minute mark Guthrie tied the count just before the bell sounded. Both teams battled desperately for the lead in, the opening min- utes of the final period. Each team missed several excellent scoring opportunities. Greene and Rinker combined for Blackwell at 11.23 with the former flipping the puck into the short side giving German no chance. This set the stage for Edgar and Colquhoun with the last goal coming with less than four minutes of play remain- ing.
