He said that all of the larger
centres in the region hadindicat-
ed their intention to take part,
and that totalling those municipal-
ities showing onvorable Interest,
it appeared that $10,000 of the
region's objective would be reach-
ed easily.
Approval of the contributions
suggested, by the councils of God-
erich and Exeter was reported by
delegates from those centres. May-
or McKinney, Wingham, spoke his
approval, saying that he felt sure
that the town would go along
with the proposal
The Wingham mayor spoke for-
cefully when he stated his approv-
al, saying that industry was great-
ly needed in the county. "We have
one of the finest labour potentials,
here, that is to be had anywhere."
Ho went on to urge fullest co-
operation with the Province in
this scherne'vvhich deserved the
endorsementof all,
Mel Crich, vice-president of the
Huron County Industrial Promo-
tion Board, thanked the speaker
for his address.
Tom Pryde stated that he was
wholeheartedly behind the pro-
motion scheme, and that he felt
the County would not fall behind
in this regard.
President Jermyn recounted a
recent trip to the "Pennsylvania
Dutch" country in the U.S.A. and
his conclusion that industry does
rot have to come in from outside,
but that it can be developed from
what an area already has.
'Mayor Miller issued a welcome
to the visitors on behalf of the
Town of Clinton. Warden Earl
Campbell congratulated the men
who had been responsible for for-
ming the County Board, and ex-
pressed a hope for future success
in the work.
Percy Dryden, Mayor of Harris -
ton, who attended with two other
men from his town, expressed
pleasure in being present, 11e
said they had come for informat-
ion, and were satisfied in going
back home with a good deal of
what they had sought,
Mention was made of a dinner
meeting in. New Hamburg on Feb-
ruary 8, at 1 pen., at which dele-
gates from all affected municipal-
ities would be asked to state the
feelings of their councils and
whether or not they would support
the plan. At that time each zone
would be asked to appoint three
:men as interim directors to get
the organization started.
