1 A, Anstett Jewellery Store
Joins Others In Remodelling
There have been many improve-
ments and changes along the nam
streets of Clinton this year. In
keeping with this progressive
move towards dressing up Clin-
ton's business places, John A. An-
stett has recently _ completed a
step which makes his jewellery
store one of the most modern in
Western Ontario.
The outside entrance of the
store has been changed but little,
except for the show windows,
which incorporate fixtures set
flush with the ceiling and bright
new drapes, giving good promise
of the modern store.
Inside, the old style showcases
have been replaced with new ones
built of walnut and finished in
gleaming cherry. The inner walls
of all the wall fixtures are of light
blue which forms an excellent
background for showing off the
china and silver pieces. Necklaces
and other jewellery are displayed
on the floor of the show cases,
against rich red and green velvet,
Open glass shelves stretch along
the left side of the store, on metal
supports which may be raised or
lowered to accommodate different
types and sixes of merchandise.
;The back of all this shelving is of
deep dark green, against which
the crystaiware, and china novel-
ties, as well as sets of dishes are
shown to good advantage,
Tke rear wall of the store is
papered pink, (matching the upper
wall areas), and will fqrm a back-
ground. behind a picture frame to
display, a variety of silverware
patterns, The- showcase at the
rear is the only one not of the
reek cherry finish, but is of light
aggainstp atheedlight coloiiredd rear
wall, tends to draw the custom-
er's attention well back into the
store.
The ceiling has been lowered a
good foot and a, half, and finished
in squares of grooved plywood, ar-
ranged so that each adjoining
square has the grooves at right
angles to the one next. .Painted a
.light blue to match the inside a
the show -cases, the ceiling has the
appearance of a two-tone checker-
board.
At the rear of the store area is
space for the watchmaker, Wil-
liam Bakelaar to do his work of
cleaning and repairing watches
and clocks.
