Holds Four Sectional Meetings
eet ngs
Sectional meetings of Huron Presbyterial of the Woman's
Missionary Society of the United Church of Canada were held
for four days last week in Kippers, Moncrief; Blake's Church, Ash-
field, and St. Helens United Churches with Mrs. E. Hocking,
.Cromarty, presiding for the south section; Mrs. J. A. McGill,
Clinton, for the centre; Mrs. Fred Toll, Auburn, for the west
and Mrs. G. Menzies, Brussels, for the north section.
Mrs. E. Desjardine, president of Huron Presbyterial was
present at all meetings and Mrs. W. J, Moores, London Con-
ference Branch president, was guest speaker at all meetings.
She chose as her theme, "The Life and Task of the Church
Around the World", A report from the Leadership Training
School held at Alma College, St. Thomas, the beginning of
September, was given at each meeting by Mrs, George Michie.
The attendance at these convention was large and all reports
were encouraging to the workers of the WMS.

ing resolutiorts were presented and
accepted by the ,meeting:
Readir g of,good literature is be-
ing stressed this year, and as much
pod literature is available
through aur WMS and travelling
exercise the greatest care to sup-
ervise all literature coming into
their homes.
It has• come to our attention
that some of the churches are be-
ing used by organizations whose
activities five feel are not always
in accord with the standards of
the United Church. We urge the
members of the WMS to carefully
consider what such groups might
do in our churches that would
lower the standard of the church
and cause undue criticism.

the Centre section sectional meet-
ing in Moncrief, Mrs. George
Reid,. Varna, and Mrs. Robert Al-

no particular credit to the fel-

merely a reflection of the fact
that there is always something

As we were cleaning our whisk-
ers, sitting on the top of the big
Press the other day, we get to
thinking about just that. Over
there on the one side is the area
where the news and advertising
which goes into the News -Record
every week, is congregated and
fussed over, and finally some time
on Thursday by some superhuman
effort is printed and sold to eager
(we hope) readers.
L>EI D El -
Down on this side of the
shop is the stacked paper of
all kinds of weights, colours
and textures, which is used
for jobs of all sorts. These
varying jobs cover invitations
to school openings, lodge din -
ners, club meetings and at
homes, tickets for special
meetings, wedding invitations
(marking the special day of
all for at least two people),
announcements of farm sales,
changes of business, Christ-
mas cards, a variety of in-
voices, billheads, statements,
packing slips, padded forms .of
all kinds, in fact all the dif-
ferent printed forms used in
the modern business world.
E Q 7
This job printing, in a similar
way to the News -Record itself,
mirrors the changes in the town
and keeps records of the history
of the businesses within it, as well
of the social goings on. So you
see, this life of a mouse, in the
rear world of the News-Repord,
can never be dull. We tried to
get some of this idea across to
Millicent the other day, but' she
just made some suggestion that
the leaves in our winter bed need-
ed a bit of re -arranging, If we
had time to philosophise, she rea-
soned, we also had time to do a
bit of work. Oh, well,
ALL THIS WEEK!
