°LINTTON DOWNS GODERICH
Goderich gridiron on Monday
afternoon was the scene of Clin-
ton Redmen's third win of the
HSSA football schedule. Goderich
kickoff at the beginning of the
game was carried back by fullback
Murray Colquhoun. A Clinton kick
made by Ron Carter and, inter-
cepted by a Goderich player
frightened the team for awhile but
Alan Mitchell retaliated with a
rouge, making the score 1-0 for
the Redmen. Ron Steepe went
over for a touchdown in the sec-
ond quarter and Bob Elliott kick-
ed the convert to raise the score
to 7-0 for Clinton. .
In the second half, Clinton kick-
ed off to Goderich, who • before
long, scored a touchdown and at-
tempted a convert which was
blocked by Clinton men. The score
then was 7-5, still in favour of
Clinton. Clinton's rouge in the
last quarter made the final score
8 to 6.
Wonderful game, boys, including
the work of Jim Howes, who was
injured during the game! Clinton
cheer -leaders, Edith Jones, Joyce
Hawkins, Patsy Scotchmer and
Kathleen Turner, cheered their
team through the Goderich line to
victory.

INITIATION
(By Kopf Waldron)
A great number of goofy shen-
anigans went on in Clinton Friday
night. If you happened to be down
town, you may have been asked
to contribute a penny to a couple
of poor students or, you may have
seen a dozen people looking at the
sky, to see what certain high
school students were gazing at. If
you were a passenger on the 9.10
bus, you were serenaded when you
got off. Some pupils had to bor-
row collars from obliging minist-
ers. Others, supposedly hungry,
were fed pablum, milk and ban-
anas. Four proposals of marriage
were made and the bottom rows of
bricks all around the school were
counted. The bricks in the second
row were less than those of the.
first.—Maybe ye olde school comes
to a point at the top.
Unfortunate children who had
been disobedient went to the
"Chamber of Horrors" after being
judged in a fair ? court. Girls
were fed costor oil (supposedly),
while boys crawled blind -folded
through a tunnel. Upon coming
out for air, they were made to
stand up. When they walked•for-
ward they tripped over ropes,
stretched across the room, and
Ifell into plates of pablum, to-
matoes or nice squishy grapes.
The evening was climaxed with
a dance and refreshments. Initia-
tion is over for 1953 to the relief
of all first formers. Can't wait
till next year!
Thanks to the demonaical fourth
formers whose sadistic minds pro-
posed and executed the'initiation
ritual.

Kinsmen Launch
Toy Repair Plan
The Kinsman Club of Clinton
is launching its second annual toy
campaign this week. The idea of
commencing the search for old
toys at an earlier date than last
year was brought forward at the
regular meeting of the club on
Tuesday evening.
This is the.. project that brought
so much joy to many needy fam-
ilies of this district last year
and the Kinsmen, with the pub-
lic's support, will make. this
year's campaign even more suc-
cessful than ever.
Anybody can help this worthy
cause. All you have to do is
gather up all the old discarded
toys around your house and
phone or take them to any
member of the Kinsmen Club
9r leave them at Herman's Men's
Wear.
Members of the Kinsmen Club
will repair, paint and give all
the old toys a general facelifting.
Then on Christmas eve the toys
will be distributed to families who
are not quite as fortunate as
others.
The Kinsmen have an addit-
ional request of the public, They
will be very greatful for any
names of families who are in
need of the toys. It is the de-
sire of every member of the
club that every child in Clinton
and district will awake on
Christmas morning to find at
least a few toys under his or
her tree,
With your help this can be
accomplished. Lets help the
Kinsmen and make this Christ-
mas really worth while.

the other competitors.
This is only one of the special
events to take place next week at
the hard -time dance. But more
about that next week.
This week, teen town will be
held on Thursday (to -night), ra-
ther 'than Friday, and the usual
attractions will be on hand. See
you there!
