Paull, Listowel, were the guests of Mrs. lV. W, Woods, over Sunday night, Mrs. Livingston who, has been caring for Mrs. James 'Ferguson returned to Goderich on Sunday. Mrs. Barbara Terribile, De- troit, spent the weekend with her mother Mrs, Lucy Plater and small son. • Mr. and Mrs. James Phinney, Windsor, visited the latter's sis- ter Mrs. J, J. H. Mac- Leod. Allan Ormond, formerly of Iron Mountain, Mich., spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H, H. Ormond, before leaving for a new post in Ken- tucky, Congratulations go to Thomas M. Johnston who on September 29, passed his 93rd birthday. He resides with Mrs. Malcolm Toms, who celebrated the occasion with a .quiet :gamily dinner. On their return, they were acdom- panied by the former's mother, Mrs. James Ferguson who is now a patient at Parkwood Hospital, Mrs. Ferguson's many friends hope that her health will con- tinue to improve. Mrs. Alice Marks Hunter, Pasadena, Calif.,. is spending this week at the New Ritz Hotel while renewing acquaintances • in The village. It is 30 years since Mrs. Hunter visited this, her native village. She left here as a girl and later spent 12 years as a deaconness of the Methodist church .i.n Cincinnati, Ohio, be- fore going to California. She is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Marks. Her niece, Mrs. M. With Rev. Hugh C. Wilson, minister of the Wes- ley -Willis Holmesville circuit, as the speaker, the morning ser- vice will start at 9.45 a.m. and the evening service at 7.30, In the morning, a women's choir, under the direction of the organ- ist, Mrs. W. Yeo, will supply the music, and the solo parts will be taken by Mrs. Bill Cox, Porter's Hill. In the evening the music will be supplied by a rnen's choir from Wesley -Willis United Ch- urch, Clinton. Mission Band The regular meeting of the Wilhelmena Mission Band, Hol- mesville United Church,was held in the school on Friday, October 2, with Douglas Norman as lead- er. The meeting opened with the singing of "Jesus Bids Us Shine," following by repeating the -lnission band prayer in un- ison. 1 The scripture lesson, taken from St. Matthew 5: 1-12, was read by Barry Wilson. Bonita Williams had a reading on peace and Robert Grigg read an article on temperance. The hymn "Jesus Loves Me" was sung, followed by a games period. Frances McCullough played a piano solo, and the study books period was taken. by Mrs. Frank McCullough for the juniors and by Mrs. Jack Yeo for the seniors. The meeting closed with the hymn "Nearer, My God, to Thee" and the Mizpah benediction. BRUCEFIELD Mrs. Roy Leppington is in Clinton Public Hospital where she recently underwent surgery on her knee.
