In Cooking Trade
Your hast in Finger's Restaur-
ant -- Ross Colquhoun — has a
wealth of knowledge in .restaurant
work, Beginning at the age of 16
in Basil Thrower's Cozy Grill,
Clinton, he has been in the cook-
ing trade practically ever since.
Korean Veteran
While working in Calgary, Alta.,
in 1950, Ross joined the Second
Battalion Princess Pat Regiment,
and aftev training at Wainwright,
Alta., and Fort Lewis, Wash„ he
arrived in Korea in December of
1950. Wounded at Yoju, Korea,
in March, 1951, he returned to
hospital at Kure, Japan, Later
he managed an army canteen at
Kure until returning to Canada
in Novembpr, 1951,
Upon his return home he was
honourably discharged at London
and worked st a restaurant in
Ridgetown, Since October,' 1952,
he has been employed as a cook
at the Officers' Mess, RCAF Sta-
tion, Clinton,
Ross's experience has taken in
a number of cooking jobs. In 1947.
he •apprenticed under the late
Chris Cheoros at the Cozy Grill,
in Mitchell, for two years. Mr.
Cheoros was one of the most pop-
ular restaurant owners in this
district. After this he went to
Western Canada, cooking first at
the Malaspino Hotel in Nanaimo,
B.C., and later in Calgary at the
CPR Palliser Hotel.
Ross is 22 years old and the
fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W.
Colquhoun, Huron Street, Clinton.
He is the fourth member of the
family to go into business in Clin
ton since World War II. The oth-
ers are A. L. Colquhoun, co -pub-
lisher of Clinton News -Record; D.
CO Colquhoun, a building contract-
or in Clinton, and K. W. Colqu-
houn, in the general insurance
business here.

. Burns WMS
The September meeting of the
Burns Women's Missionary Society
was held at the home of Mrs. Ro;•
bert Jamieson. The'meeting opened
with a hymn and roll call was
answered by 17 ladies. Mrs, Harry
Tebbutt, leader of group two, had
charge of the worship service, as-
sisted by Mrs. Bert Allen, Gladys
Leiper, Mrs. Harvey Taylor and
Mrs, Bert Hoggart. Mrs. Arthur
Colson gave a thanksgiving read-
ing. A prayer of intercession was
given by Mrs. J. T. White.
Mrs. George Smith read a letter
written by Miss Francis Lyon,
Londesboro, when on a tour this
summer. Mrs. R. Lcwrie gave a
reading. Mrs. George Carter pre-
sided for the business session. The
copper contest which closed at
this meeting was won by group 2.
The thankoffering meeting will be
held early in October in the
church with these societies as
guests: . Duff's, McKillop, Con-
stance, Londesboro and Winthrop.

The president, Mrs. William
Bell, presided. The minutes of the
last meeting and the treasurer's
report were given. The meeting
closed with the Lord's,Prayer.
(Proceeds of the auctiobasket
went ,to the building fund.
