There is accommodation for 15 customers along the counter on chrome stools with green leather spring tops, The counter stretches from the front door the whole length of the room, and is finish- ed with grey marble arborite and gleaming chrome trim. - As the customer enters the front door, his eye is led by diagonal strips of green set in the grey plastic vinyl tile floor, to the right, where grey booths equipped with grey -topped tables have a seating capacity of 26. In- dividual selection boxes located at intervals along the counter and in each booth are the most modern type, for ease in selecting the hit tunes of the day. The walls are finished part way up in fir plywood, with the new wiped finish, done in green. The lower part of the counter, and the cupboards behind the counter are done the same way. The real wall, and behind the counter is of amerply finished similarly in yel- low. The middle walls are paper- ed in grey panel veneer, creating the impression of combed plywood. On three walls, gay Chinese pagodas set in colourful Oriental gardens on a jet black ground, dominate the entire room and the colours there, of black, green, yel- low and grey, are used through- out. Indirect lighting, achieved through louvred fixtures, makes for a brightness without glare, and strategically placed hanging spotlights illuminate the working spaces behind the counter. The ceiling is of celotex painted a clear bright yellow. • Here a soda fountain with re- frigerated water bath cooling system, ice cream freezer, picture frame shelves for bars and cigar- ettes, milk shakes, three -burner coffee maker, and three -section stainless steel sink, plus soft drink cooler and deep freeze units will provide the necessary facilities for prompt service. Realizing the need for adequate refrigeration in the storing of foods of all sorts, Mr. Colquhoun has installed a large refrigerator in the kitchen, and a deep freeze unit in the basement. In the kitchen, too, is a six - burner gas stove, with large griII, broiler, two ovens and warming rack, suitable for preparing large quantities of food in a short time. Another large unit is the eight - well gas -operated steam table, complete with plate warming clos- et. Because of this highly mod- ern, sanitary piece of equipment, dinners may be served piping, hot at all hours. In addition is a spotless, stainless steel deep fat frier, capable of making those tasty chips and deep fried foods that melt in the mouth. Shiny pots and kettles, a large three -section sink for dish -wash - CONGRATULATIONS to ROSS COLQUHOUN on the opening of his NEW RESTAURANT We are pleased to have been able to do the interior decorating of this new business.
