September Weddings

(Tall standards of white and red
gladioli, ferns and candelabra
formed the setting in Carmel Pres-
byteriau Church, Hensall, Satur-
day, September 12 at 3 p.m, for the
wedding of Margaret Charlotte
Pearl McLeod and Roy William
Thomas Kirk, Toronto. The bride
is the daughter of Mr, and Mrs.
Roy McLeod, Wingham, and the
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Lewis Kirk, Exeter,
Rev, J, B. Fox officiated. Miss
Gladys Collins, Seaforth, provided
the wedding music, and accompan-
ied the soloist, Miss Maxine Reed-
er, Exeter, who sang, "The Wed -
din ,, Prayer" and "My Hero".
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride was charming in a waltz -
length gown of white nylon tulle
over taffeta featuring a strapless
bodice and tiered skirt, with mat-
ching bolero and gloves of net over
'taffeta. A half crown of lace and
.satin held her shoulder -length veil
of embroidered nylon tulle. She
carried a white bridal Bible topped
with an orchid and white satin
streamers,
Four attendants preceded the
bride' to the altar. Miss Frances
Lostell, Exeter, cousin of the bride,
was maid of honour wearing a
pastel green nylon net over a taf-
feta waltz -length gown, fashioned
with a tiered skirt and strapless
bodice and gloves. The brides-
maids, Mrs, Ross Cowan, Petrolia,
sister of the groom, and Miss Betty
McLeod, Wingham, sister of the
bride, wore gowns identically styl-
ed to that t3f the maid .of honour,
in blue and pink respectively. All
wore floral headdresses matching
their gownsand carried nosegays
of pink, white and yellow rnums.
Miss Dianne McLeod, Wingham,
sister of the bride, was a winsome
flower girl frocked in mauve nylon
net featuring a short tiered hooped
skirt.She wore a mauve floral
headdress and carried a basket of
autumn flowers,
. John Whalen, Toronto, was
groomsman. Don Kirk, Exeter,
brother of the groom and George
McLeod, Bensall, brother of the
bride. ushered.
For receiving the flu guests at
Club Monetta, Exeter, the bride's
mother chose a navy crepe dress
with lace inserts, pink and white
accessories and corsage of pink
roses. The groom's mother assist-
ed wearing a navy crepe dress with
accessories in navy and white and
a red rose corsage. For a wedding
trip to Northern Ontario and Que-
bec the bride chose a navy wool
crepe suit with navy and white
accessories and an orchid corsage.

Victoria Street United Church,
Goderich, decorated with Pink and
white gladioli, was the scene of a
pretty wedding on Saturday at
noon, September 12, when Mildred
Ilene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Wilfred Quaid, Goderich, became
the bride of Tarry Maitland Mont,
gomery, Goderich, son of Mr. and
Mrs, Edwin Montgomery, Gade-
rich, Rev, D. W, Williams con-
ducted the ceremony.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a floor -length gown
of. white Alencon lace over satin
with sweetheart neckline, fashion-
cd with a full skirt and long lily
point sleeves. Her finger-tip veil
of tulle illusion was caught by a
bandeau of pearled orange blos-
soms. She carried a cascade of
deep pink roses and trailing rose-
buds, and wore a triple strand of
pearls with matching earrings.
The matron of honour was Mrs.
Marion E. Husband, Sarnia, sister
of the bride, and the bridesmaid
was Mrs. Virginia Patterson, Au-
burn. Junior bridesmaid was Miss
Margaret Ann Rees, Wingham,
niece of the bride. The attend-
ants wore similarly styled strap-
less gowns of lace and net over
taffeta with a lace bolero and very
full skirts. Mrs. Husband's gown
was of shrimp, and she carried an
arm bouquet of yellow gladioli.
Mrs. Patterson wore blue and her
flowers were pale pink `gladioli.
Miss Rees wore yellow and carried
deep pink gladioli. All wore mat-
ching bandeaux with flowers to
match their bouquets.
Flower girl was Willa Dianne
Dickson, Port Albert, niece of the
bride, who wore a long sheer nylon
dress of light green over taffeta,
with a matching headdress, and
she carried a basket of gladioli.
Groomsman was Allan Buchan-
an, Goderich, cousin of the groom,
and ushers were George Westlake,
Wingham, brother-in-law of the
bride, and Arnold Fisher, Goderich,
Organist was Bert Kempster,
Goderich, who accompanied Miss
Betty Bowra, Goderich, as she
sang `Because" and "The 'Lord's
Prayer".
For the reception which follow-
ed the ceremony at the home of
the, bride's parents, Mrs. Quaid
wore navy blue faille crepe with
white accessories and a corsage of
orchid gladioli. The groom's mo-
ther wore navy' crepe with navy
accessories and a corsage of orchid
gladioli. Guests who attended from
a distance included Mr. and Mrs.
John Quaid, Meryl Quaid and Mar-
ion Husband, Sarnia; Miss Ileen
Lavigne, Hamilton; Mrs. Agnes
Fisher, Toronto, and other guests
from Wingham, Lucknow, Port
Albert and Goderich.
The bride chose for travelling a
red gabardine suit, a black feather
hat and black accessories, with a
corsage of white gladioli. After
their return from a wedding trip
to Northern Ontario, the young
couple will live at Saltford.

Castle-linekins
Gladioli were the flowers chosen
to decorate St. Andrew's United
Church, Bayfield, for the wedding
of Marion Ledith Hlickins and
Wilfred George Castle, hayfield,
on Saturday afternoon, September
12, The bride is the daughter df
Mr, and Mrs. Ormond Huckins,
Goderich Township, and her hus-
band is the son of MI, and Mrs,
George Castle, Bayfield. Rev. P.
Renner performed the ceremony,
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a floor -length gown
of white nylon net over satin, with
a matching jacket of French lace,
fashioned with lily point sleeves,
She wore a headdress from which
fell 'a finger-tip veil, and carried
a cascade of red roses.
Evelyn Grace Huckins, .Goderich,
sister of the bride, was brides-
maid, and wore a strapless gown'
of, blue nylon net over taffeta with
a cape made of. Frenchlace. She
wore a headdress of matching
nylon net and carried assorted
'mums with streamers of blue and
white.
The flower girl was Miss Susan
Adams, Bayfield, whcV wore nylon
net over taffeta, a t ny stand-up
collar and short fluffy sleeves. Her
headdress was of matching nylon
net and she carried a nosegay of
assorted 'mums caught by stream-
ers of yellow and white,'
Groomsman was William Mc-
Dwain, Bayfield. Ushers were Joe
Steep, Clinton, and Keith Kuisser,
Seaforth,.
Mrs, Donald Kingsbury, 3311Y -
field, was organist and accompan-
ied William Craig, Toronto, who
sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "Be-
cause,",
A reception followed. at The
Little Inn, Bayfield,, where the
pride's mother received in mauve
crepe with grey accessories and a
corsage of white 'mums. She was
assisted by the groom's mother
who was gowned in .a gray suit,
Margaret Rose accessories and a
corsage of white 'mums. Guests
attended from Toronto, Seaforth,
Clinton, Goderich and Bayfield.
For the wedding trip to North-
ern Ontario, the bride wore a beige

ther and sister-in-law of Tommy
Cook, are spending a few days here
on their way home to Brandon
from New York.
Mrs, Betty Olien won $25 at
Seaforth bingo on Monday night,

of yellow 'mums. On their return
the young couple will live at Bay-
field.
The groom's gift to the bride
