FLYING OFFICER AND MRS. LEON JOHN R:USHCALL, were married in Brucefield United
Church on Saturday, August 22, by Rev. W. J. Maines. The bride is the former Charlotte Alice
Ruth Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Scott, Brucefield, and her husband is the son of Mr.
and Mrs, Leon A. RushcaIl, Fernie, B.C. Following a wedding trip through Northern Ontario, the
young couple plan to live at Montreal, Quebec.
MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM LAIRD MICKLE; were married in James Street United Church,
Exeter, by Rev. Harold J. Snell. The bride is Frances Edna, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Taylor, Exeter, and her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Mickle, Hensall. Following
their return from a wedding trip to New York and Eastern United States, the young couple plan
to live in Hensall.

Mrs. L. C. Evans, St. Thomas,
spent a few days this week with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Carter. Yesterday she accompan-
ied them to Toronto where they
will visit the letters' son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A.
H. Carter and family.
Among the summer guests at
the Rorke cottage, Beach Place,
Bluewater Highway, were: Miss
Maureen Cheesman, Berkley,
Mich.; Lyle Lampert, Pontiac,
Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bol-
ton, Toronto; and Miss Florence
Rorke, Toronto.
Miss Margaret Amber, Pontiac,
Mich., who has been spending
the summer at her grandparents' 1
summer home, was the guest for
the past leek of Miss Gail Muris-
in, London. Miss Gail is the
guest of Miss Margaret for the
present week.
John Mulholland has returned
after a months vacation to Van-
couver Island. While there he
visited with Mr. and Mrs. J.
Bryden (Jacqueline). On his re-
turn trip to Winnipeg he was the
guest of his sister Mrs. ' Cepha
Ford for a few days.
Miss Dianne Elizabeth SeIker
has received word of the sudden
passing of her uncle, Joseph
l yimmi, Cleveland, Ohio. Mr.
and Mrs. Hymann visited Dianne
in July and made many friends
while here especially with the
younger folk in the vicinity of
Joseph Street.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mitchell,
and sons Ronald and George, of
Copper Cliff, also their daughter
Miss Marie Mitchell, who has
been attending Cornwall Univer-
sity in England, the past two
years, visited with their aunt
Mrs, Orace Higgins, and Mr. and
Mrs, Frank Fennebaker last
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. Saun-
ders, Montreal, with their infant
son Gordon Eugene and Mr. and
Mrs. William Dawsofr, Sarnia,
with their infant son, Paul, will
be guests this month of the for-
mer's parents, Mr. and Vire,
Gordon Cuninghame at their lake

wright and daughter Ann of Wel-

Clinton Women's Institute Entertained

The Clinton Women's Institute Leppington were choaen as group'
Met on Wednesday, August 26, at
2,30 at the home of Mrs. Mervyn
l3atkin on Princess Street, when
about 55 members and visiting
grandmothers were in attendance.
The weather was perfect and the
meeting was held on the lawn,
under the leadership of the presi-
dent, Mrs. C. Sturdy.
The meeting opened with the
singing of the Ode, repeating the
Mary Stewart collect and the
Lord's Prayer. The minutes were
read and approved and the treas-
urer's monthly statement given,
Bills 'and communications were
read by the secretary, Several
thanked. their Sunshine Sisters,
The secretary read two invita-
tions from near -by similar organ-
izations, which were accepted,
Transportation comm it t e e to
Wingham for September 17 will be
Mrs, E. Radford and Mrs. A. Cud -
more, Members please notify these
ladies not later than September
12 if desiring to go. Programme
eothmittee is Mrs. N. Shepherd
and Mrs. R. Fear.
Mrs, E. Livermore was accepted
as a life member of the Clinton
Women's Institute.
Business matters were discussed
regarding bus trips and park
gates, and members were reminded
of the bazaar.
The roll call was answered by
"Why I Admire Elderly Ladies".
The programme committee with
Mrs. J. Batkin presiding, had a
varied but interesting programme.
Mrs. E. Epps gave a humorous
reading "Why?" Mrs. W. Van-
Egmond gave accordion selections.
Mrs. R. Fear gave a humorous
reading, "Lines from a Back -Seat
Driver'. Mrs. A. Cudmore gave
an interesting resume of the
"Canada Day" programme when
she attended the A.C.W.W. con-
vention in Toronto on August 21.
Everyone who attended was cer-
tainly thrilled.

Plan For Fowl Supper
The Ontario Street Woman's
Association niet on Tuesday after-
noon, September 1 at three o'clock
in the church hall with the presi-
dent, Mrs. J. Radford opening the
meeting. Mrs. Townsend took the
devotional period in the absence
of Mrs. Aiken, taking as her sub-
ject, "Faith and Trust". •
The secretary's report was given
by Mrs. R. Connell in the absence
of Mrs, Brown. The different re-
ports and callers for the different
wards were named. It was de-
cided to have a fowl supper on
October 20.
Miss Marlene Jervis favoured
the ladies with an instrumental
and Miss E. Wiltse gave two solos
and Mrs. E. Radford an instru-
mental which were all much en-
joyed. The meeting closed with a
hymn, the Mizpah benediction and
a lovely lunch served by the lad-
ies of the Base Line and Conces-
sion 16.

won the prize for putting clothes
pins in a milk bottle.
An elimination contest conduct-
ed by Mrs. E. Welsh proved inter-
esting. The lady with the young-
est grandchild was Mrs, W. R,
Lobb; mystery lady, Mrs. Shob•-
brook; lucky chair, Mrs. W. Van-
Egmond. It was moved and sec-
onded that a vote of thanks be
extended to all taking part in the
program; to the social committee
for their work in planning lunch,
setting tables, etc., and to Mrs, M.
Batkin for the use of her home.
Later, all partook of a well -laden
table which was the climax of a
fine afternoon.
