The funeral service for Well-
ington George Henry was held
on Thursday, August 15, 1953,
from the Arthur funeral home
with interment in Maitland cem-
etery, Goderich. Rev, H. C.
Wilson, Clinton, conducted the
service in the absence of Rev.
C. C. Washington who is away on
vacation.
Pallbearers were Marvin Mc-
Dowell, William McDowell, Al-
bert Campbell, Walter Cook,
Maitland Henry and Earl Wight-
inan.
Mr. Henry died suddenly at
the home of his niece, Mrs, W.
A. Hack, Denfield. He had plan-
ned to visit his niece, Mrs.
Charles Scott, the next day. �.
He was the son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. George Henry and was
born at Westfield July 1, 1878.
For many years he had Lived in
Vancouver. Last year he came
east to take up residenpe with
his nephew, James Henry, Wind-
sor.
Surviving besides several nie-
ces and nephews is one son, Roy,
Gull Lake, Sask.; and one sister,
Mrs. John Dowell, Granton.

Mrs. Guy Routley
Funeral services were largely
attended at her late residence in.
Bright on Tuesday afternoon, Au-
gust 18, for Mrs, Guy Routley (nee
Gladys Cook), who passed away
suddenly on Saturday morning,
August 15, in her 57th year. Inter-
ment was in Chesterfield Ceme-
tery.
Mrs. Routly was born in Clinton,
the daughter of Frederick Cook
and Margaret Lorimer.
Surviving besides her husband,
is one daughter, (Margaret), Mrs.
Blair Graham, Bright; two sons,
William, Bright; James, Tavistock;
two sisters, Mrs. Grace Grealis
and Mrs. John Neilans, Clinton;
four brothers, Glen and Cree Cook,
Clinton; Fred, Wyandotte, Mich,,
and Douglas, Bright.

The adventures of two teen -aged
boys ran up against parental au-
thority recently in Bayfield, When
the tale reached our ears, we
couldn't help thinking that if more
parents handled the whims of 16-
there as firmly, th e would be
fewer "hot -rods" .causing trouble,
and fewer youths indulging in the
wander lust with no particular aim
in life.
It happened that a youth (shall
be call him "Tom"?) decided that
he had outgrown carefree sum -

Seaforth on Saturday, August 1,
with over 75 persons registering.

ough to buy the ancient vehicle
and then driven home through
Michigan. They ran out of money
at Sarnia couldn't pay the 60 -cents
toll across the bridge. But they
told an honest story and Torn gave
his father's name and business and
guaranteed that the fee would be
mailed to him, so the toll -keeper
trusted them. But they were very
hungry and as they drove along
they saw a soldier walking, so
they picked him up in the hope of

A native of Clinton and resident
in London since 1926, Mrs. Ethel
Dempsey, 338 James Street, widow
of Frank Dempsey, died Thursday
night, August 13, in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London.
She was a 'member of the Ang-
lican Church of St. John the Evan-
gelist and the ladies' auxiliary of
Duchess of Kent Branch of the
Canadian Legion.
One son, Frank Dempsey, Jr„
London, survives with two broth-
ers, the Rev. Frank Herman,
Markdale, and Thomas Herman,
Clinton; six sisters, Mrs. Gertrude
Kennedy, Winnipeg;. Mrs. Lillian
Livermore, Uplands, Cal.; Mrs.
May Shedden, Woodstock; Mrs.
Gladys Draper, and Mrs. Nellie
Frernlin, both of Clinton, and Mrs.
Reta Tomlin, Palmerston, and
three granddaughters.
Service was conducted Saturday
afternoon at the James E. Gord-
anier funeral home, by the Ven.
Archdeacon C. W. Foreman, of the
Church of St. John the Evangelist.
Interment was in Clinton Ceme-
tery.
