Exeter Clergyman
Takes OAC Course
Rev. W, J. Moores, Exeter, was
among the more than 50 rural
clergymen and their wives from
Ontario, as well as New York
State and Quebec, who attended
the fourth annual summer school
for rural clergymen held at the
Ontario Agricultural College the
last week of July,
The clergymen took one of three
main courses intended to better
acquaint them with the relation
of agriculture to human welfare
and community life. Twenty were
enrolled in the general agriculture
option, which dealt with all as-
pects of practical agriculture, from
soil conservation and the latest
engineering developments to new
developments in poultry and the
role of insects in agriculture.
The same number were enrolled
in the course in human relations,
which featured discussions of
man's role and development in his
environment, as well as a review
of Canadian literature and practic-
al experience in radio broadcast-
ing. The remainder studied the
business of farming, a course ac-
centing the principles of farm
management and marketing.
For the wives, tours and teas
were arranged while their hus-
bands applied themselves to their
student roles.

Wheat Yield Good, Says
Assistant Agr. Rep.
"Harvesting is in full swing
throughout the county and weath-
er conditions have been ideal for
the harvest," H. R. Baker, assist-
ant agricultural representative for
Huron County, reports.
"Reports for yields have been
very favourable and on the aver-
age the fall wheat crop is very
good. Some farmers report, how-
ever, that the wheat sample kis
smaller than anticipated and lack-
ing somewhat in uniformity. Oats
and barley are now being cut very
rapidly throughout the county and
it is expected that next week
threshing will be the order of the
day.
"Almost everyone has finished
haying and an unusual supply of
hay has been harvested. After-
math is coming on very rapidly
and although some pastures are
drying up pasture supply is very
good for this time of year. Corn
is showing excellent growth the
past week as well as soybeans and
other cash crops,"
