ing spent a week in London.
Mr, and Mrs. Allan Hayes, De-
troit, are occupying the Metcalf
cottage for .the month of August.
Jackie and Mildred Fraser, Lon-
don, spent the weekend with their
parents, Mr, and Mrs. <J. Fraser.
Roy McLeod, Toledo, Ohio, came
on Sunday to spend a fortnight
with his sister, Miss Cecil McLeod.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Scott and
Ronald, Dearborn Mich., are
spending this week at The Little
Inn,
Miss Margaret Stirling, London,
was with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Leslie Stirling over .the week-
end.
Mrs. Frank Bauer and family
and Mrs. James Huck, Waterloo,
are visiting Mr. and Mrs. E. J.
Bauer.
Miss L. C. Morley' returned to
Detroit on Monday after having
spent the past few weeks at her
cottage.
Dr. and Mrs. Paul Walden,
Montreal, are spending this month
in one of the Galbraith cottages

ian Festival en route for a boat

Bala over the weekend.
Mrs. A. Catling and daughter,
Mrs. S. Taylor, Port Stanley,
came on Sunday to visit her bro-
ther, Herbert Sturgeon.
Mrs. A. Woodward and Miss M.
Henning returned to Detroit on
Friday after having been the
guests of Miss L. C, Morley, at
"Birchcliff".
Mrs. William Menerey and Mr.
and Mrs. Clare Hall adxi two sons,
Morris and Bill, Yale, Mich., were
the guests of Mrs, Bruce Menerey
over the weekend,
Mr, and Mrs, James Day and
family returned to Pleasant Ridge,
Mich., on Saturday after- having
spent the past few weeks at their
summer home here.

Sympathy is extended to Mrs.
Hall, in the death of her husband,
William James Hall, formerly of
Toledo, Ohio, which occurred on
Wednesday, July, 29, 1953, follow-
ing an illness of Several weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hudson and
Miss Penelope Shepherd, Windsor,
were the guests of Miss Kathleen
Reid at "Enfield" cottage over the
weekend. Penelope remained to
spend this week with Mr. and Mrs.
A. W. Reid.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph V. Bennett,
Frances and Roger, Norwalk, Con-
necticut, are the guests of Miss
Eileen Hession, "Fair Acres"; Dr.
and Mrs, B. L. Hessian and fam-
ily, London, also were guests of
his sister over the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cunning-
ham, Mooretown, Rev. and Mrs.
H. G. E. Crosby and Miss P.
Crosby, Ree.N., Scotia, N.Y., who
are at their cottage at Moore -
town, were the guests of Mr, and
Mrs, J. E. Howard on Thursday
last.
Misses Margaret Howard and
Rosalind Carew -Jones left Tues-
day to spend ten days at "Keeway-
din"`the Girl Guide Camp, 25 miles
north of Goderich. The Rev. and
Mrs, E, Carew -Jones and Mrs.
Howard motored to the camp with
the girls.
Guests at the Albion Hotel are
Roger Moire, Detroit; Mrs. Vera
Ballingall and Miss Mary Joan,
and Miss Dorothea Treleaven,
London. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Nev-
ille and Stephanie Neville, Sarnia,
Charles, Brian and Pat Rourke
and George Cooper, Toronto, and
Misses Rubie Fisher, Barbara Pol-
lock and Isabel Andrews, Kitchen-
er, were also guests over the
weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. James Maitland
and Peter, London, and Mr. and
Mrs. T. Marks and family, Grand
Rapids, Mich., are holidaying in
one of the Jowett cottages. Others
who arrived on Saturday to occupy
Jowett cottages are: Mr. and Mrs.
J. Rapsey and family, Ajax; Mr.
and Mrs. J. Hall and family, De-
troit; Mr. and Mrs. E. Blair and
family, Windsor; Mr. and Mrs. D.
Higgins and family, Toronto; Mr.
and Mrs. W. Heyman and family,
Detroit.
Trinity WA Tea
Miss L. C. Morley was hostess
at a delightful tea on Wednesday
afternoon, July 28, for the bene-
fit of the Woman's Auxiliary of
Trinity Church, at which there
was a good attendance.
The tea table, done in Corona-
tion colours with gold -coloured
cloth and artistic floral centre of
hydrangeas and purple buddleia,
was set in the charming secluded
garden under the apple trees at
"Birchcliff."
Mrs. C. R. Will, Mrs. W. M.,
Purves and Mrs. R. H. F. Gairdner
poured. Misses Margaret Howard,
Mary Alice Hunter, Barbara Bas-
sett, Helen Whittall, Rosalind
Carew -Jones, Donna and Lucy Day
assisted Mrs. A. Woodward and
Miss M. Henning in serving the
guests. Over $40 -was realized for
special WA purposes.
The four ducks in our window display average six
,
pounds at nine weeks of age on Thursday, August 6th.
These ducks will make thie eating. The Deeves boys have 30
of these ducks ready for killing.. We will be pleased to take orders

The Woman's Association of
Ebenezer United Church xnet at
the home of ' Mrs. Fred' Lobb.
The president, Mrs. d! . Jones,
was in charge of the meeting,
which was opened by singing the
theme song, followed by the creed
and Lord's Prayer repeated in
unison.
A hymn was sung and the de-
votional period was taken by
the president. The roll call Was
a famous person whom we have
always admired," end was an-
swered by nine members and
two visitors.
The minutes gJ . the previous
meeting were read and adopted.
It was decided to use a travell-
ing apron to .make funds for the
society.
The chapter from the study
book was given by Mrs. Irvine
Tebbutt. The meeting was closed
by the president with a benedic-
tion.
Ebenezer Anniversary
Arrangements have been i'hade
for the anniversary services of
Ebenezer church, to be held. on
September 13, :A former at-
tendant of the church, Archdeac-
on W. Townshend, London, is to
be the guest speaker.
Three Are Baptised
At the regular church service
en Sunday, August 2, rites of
baptism were administered t'o
three children. A. guest soloist
from Hamilton sang, Next Sun-
day, August 9, the speaker will
be Brock Vodden, Blyth, who is
a candidate for the ministry.
CONSTANCE
Mrs. Mary Nicholson, who has
made her home in Toronto for
a few years is visiting friends in
the neighborhood.
Mrs. Edith McFarlane and
daughters, Toronto, and Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Stevenson, Brussels,
spent Civic Holiday with rel-
atives in the village.
Mr. and Mrs, Bernard Riley
and family, Kitchener, spent the
weekend and Civic Holiday at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Riley, Master Dennis and Shir-
ley Ann returned home with
them after four weeks holidays
with their grandparents.
At The Poplars
Miss Wilma Radford, who spent
a vacation with her mother, Mrs.
3. Radford, returned to London on
Monday.
Mr, and Mrs. R. Hamilton and
two children, Penny, and Gerald,
are occupying "Grumble -Not" cot-
tage this month.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Cook and
two children returned to Windsor
on Monday after spending July
with the former's parents.
William Grigg returned to To-
ronto on Monday after+a vacation
spent with his wife and daughter
at their cottage "Bali Acres".
Mr, and Mrs. Frank Peter, Mary
and Douglas, Stratford, are at
their cottage. Mrs. Harry Peter,
Stratford, is occupying her cottage.
Mr. and Mrs. William Bell, Sr.,
returned to Dearborn on Sunday
after spending a holiday at their
cottage. Mr. and Mrs. William
Bell, Jr., and baby, are at the
cottage this week.
Janie and Mark Stephens, To-
ronto, are visiting with their
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
Cook. Dr. and Mrs. Fred Landon,
London, called on Mr. and Mrs.
Cree Cook on Wednesday.

The, Burn's W. M. S. and W.
A. met at the home of Mrs.
William Trewin on Thursday,
July 30.
Mrs. E. Knox was in charge of
the worship service. A pro-
gramme based on the work of
the rural missionary at -large was
used, Mrs, Roe, Mrs, W. Reid,
Mrs, G. Watt, and Margaret Tre-
win, each represented a mission-
ary, and told of her work in
Canada.
During the business session,
it was decided to have the Miss-
ion Band meeting on August 27,
in S.S. No. 11 school. This will
be Group 1's meeting, but Group
2 will bring tarts, Group 3, cook-
ies, and Group 1 the drink and
sandwiches.
Anyone ttill having articles
for the bale to be ,sent to the
Fred Victor Mission are asked
to send them to Mrs. Jixn Scott,
who has been appointed to ship
the bale.
Members are asked to give
their Bible Society donations to
their group leader or to Miss
Ida Leiper.
