Haying Nearly' Over;
Some Grain Cut,
Says Agricultural Rep.
"Haying is approximately 75
per cent completed and aftermath
growth has been excellent," G, W.
Montgomery, agricultural repre-
sentative for Huron County, stat-
es. •
"Most of the barns damaged by
the hurricane winds of May 25
have now been repaired or rebuilt.
"A few fields of fall wheat were
cut last week in the south end of
the county. The hot humid wea-
ther this past week has caused all
of the grain crop to turn color
more quickly than expected. Culti-
vated crops such as soybeans, su-
gar beets, white beans and more
particularly corn have benefited
from the warm weather and made
excellent growth this past week.'

A Popular Place for Boys
The Scout Camp on the Mait-
land River is providing a good re-
creational centre for the members
of the First Clinton Boy Scout
Troop, A month ago, nearly 20
Scouts were at the camp for over
a week. Last weekend one patrol.

modation, and this year they have
a cookhouse and dining centre,
erected from material supplied by
two Clinton building suppliers.

26,000 May Vote
In Huron Riding
There are 25,973 on the pre-
liminary voters' list for the new
Federal Huron riding, J. K. Hun-
ter, returning officer, has report-
ed.
Increase Seen
The total will be greater when
the list is revised. it is estimated
about 300 will be added in one
municipality alone.
Mr. Hunter estimates 144 subdi-
visions will be needed.
The riding is larger than the old
Huron North and Huron Perth
ridings. In the 1949 election there
were about 17,00 eligible to vote
in each.
Yet the present total of 25,973
is about 200 fewer than the 1949
total for the municipalities which
now make up Huron. The de-
crease results in part from the an-
nexing of a part of Grand Bend by
Lambton County, Mr. Hunter said.
Nominations for Huron will be
taken at the town hall at Hensall
between one and two Daylight
Time on the afternoon of July 28.
On Election night Mr. Hunter
will receive the returns at Gode-
rich. As uaual' there will be some-
one at the Clinton News -Record
office. -
