N.Y., arrived on Friday to visit
the latter's brother, H. A. Stinson.

ing a siege of pneumonia. Mrs. B.

Father David William Bauer,
youngest son of Mr. and Mrs.
E. J. Bauer, celebrated his
first solemn high mass in St.
Louis C h u r c h, Waterloo, on
Sunday morning last. Amongst
those from Bayfield who attended
the mass and subsequent banquet
and reception at the Waiper Hotel,
Kitchener, were: Mr. and Mrs.
George Cantrick, Mr, and Mrs.
James Day, Miss L. C. Morley, Mr.
and Mrs. William R. Elliott, Mr.
and Mrs. L. Norris and Billy,.,Mr.

Mr. and Mrs. 'H. H. Ormond
are staying with Mrs. R. H. F.
Gairdner. They recently returned
to Detroit after having been in
Sao Paulo, Brazil, for over two
years where Mr. Ormond was sent
in the capacity of civil engineer
for the Ford Motor Company. He
now is making arrangements to
build a permanent home on the
property which he bought from
Robert Blair some years ago. Mr.
and Mrs. Ormond had previously
spent many vacations here and we
welcome them to our midst as
permanent residents.

Tuesday, Jury 14, will be Guide
and Brownie Day in Bdyfield. The
members of the troop and pack
will gather at Mrs. Gairdner's of-
fice at 10 a.m. to go out and sell
their cookies.
Brownie Hike
The Brownies enjoyed a hike on
Thursday last accompanied by
Mrs. Carew -Jones, Mrs. Pat Worth,
Mrs. J. E. Howard and' Miss Rosa-
lind Carew -Jones. On their return
a few friends gathered with them
at the rectory to witness the en-
rollment of Margaret Wallis who
'was ill when other members of the
pack were enrolled. Mrs. Carew -
Jones officiated at the cereiriony,
after which she served tea to the
guests. '

The Women's Missionary Society
of the United Church met on
Thursday evening of last week at
the home of Mrs. Steckle with a
good attendance.
The worship service was con-
ducted by Mrs. RathweIl, all re-
sponding with the singing of the
hymn, "From Ocean unto Ocean,
our Land shall own Thee Lord.",
Miss J. Stirling gave a most int-
eresting review of the last chap-
ter of the. study book, "Along Af-
rican Trails,". Arrangements were
made for the Mission Band and
Baby Band meeting to be held in
August.
WA Plans Bake Sale
On July 2 the Woman's Assoc-
iation of the United Church, Bay-
field, met at Mrs. Steckle's home.
Mrs. Gordon Scotchmer was in
the chair. She opened the meeting
with a reading on "Obedience",
This was followed by a prayer by
lirrs. John Scotchmer. In the ab,
Bence of the secretary, Miss Maud
Stirling read the minutes of the
June meeting• and recorded the
inutes for the July meeting, The
treasurer's report was read with
an account of the'proceeds from
the July 1 dinner. Plans were
made for the July bake• sale for
