Women's Missionary Society was

daughters, Niagara Falls.
Mr. and Mrs. William Wells and
daughter, Clinton, were with the
lady's parents, Mr. and. Mrs. Rob-
ert Youngblutt, on Sunday.

The regular meeting of the Lon-
desboro Women's Institute will be
held on Thursday, afternoon, June
4, at two o'clock in the Londes-
boro Community Hall.
YPTT Meet
About 30 members of local un-
ions of the Huron Presbytery
Young People's Unoin who were
cleaning up the Goderich Summer
School grounds a week ago, were
guests of the Burns-Londesboro
YPU at its regular meeting held
in Londesboro United Church on
Sunday, May 16.
The meeting began with a sing-
song led by Gail Manning, follow-
ing which the business of the
meeting was conducted. The de-
votional part of the meeting began
with the singing of a hymn and
Jack Webster read the scripture.
Grant Snell led in prayer.
The offering was then taken up.
Lloyd Penfound played a guitar
selection and Mrs. Harvey Spar -
ling gave a report on the National
Young Peoples Council held in
Winnipeg last summer.
The topic of the meeting, "The
Rising Cost -of Being a Christian"
was given by Maxine Hunking,
Mrs. Ted Hunking and Grant
Snell, and those present were
divided into discussion groups to
discuss the topic.

The,sympathy of the whole com-
munity goes to Mrs. Jack Cluff
and her family in their recent
sudden tragic bereavement.
Mr, and Mrs. Hugh Middleton,
Catharine and Charles, Leaside,
visited over the weekend with
Mrs. Charles Middleton.
Mr, and Mrs. Stewart. MiddIe-
ton, Mrs. William Tebbutt, Bert

Gordon "'Timmy" Dunn, Bruce -
field, field, son .pf Mr. and Mrs, R. G.
Dunn, won third prize in the boys'
solo group, six to seven years old,
at the Mitchell Music Festival
held last week,
H, B. Manning, Clinton, repre-
sented the Ontario Temperance
Temperance Federation, appearing
at the morning service on Sunday. •

Mr. and Mrs, J. W. Stackhouse
have received word that the barn
on the farm, at which they lived
when they were first married over
50 years ago was completely level-
led by the storm and tornado on
Monday evening, May 25. Mr.
Stackhouse's brother-in-law, Wil-
liam McDowell, also reports the
barn on his faun was demolished.

Thomas Dunbar, Lambeth; Mr.
and Mrs, Cecil Merkley, Wing -
ham and their guests, Mr. and
Mrs, Robert Hall, Wingham; Mr,
and Mrs. George Woods, Detroit,
were also at their summer home.

The WA of St. James' Church,
Middleton, will meet in the base-
ment of the church on Wednesday,,
June 3.
Community Club
The S.S. No. 4 Community Club
met at the borne of Mrs. S. Far-
quhar for the May meeting, which
was opened by repeating the
Lord's Prayer in unison. The
minutes of the previous meeting
Were read and adopted. The roll
call was responded to by paying
the fee. •
The treasurer's report was read;
showing a balance of $72.49 ori
hand. The meeting was closed
with the Mizpah benediction. The
remainder of the afternoon was
spent in quilting. There were 13
members and three visitors pres-
ent. Lunch was servied by the
hostess, assisted by Mrs. Biggin
and Mrs. M. Jones.
The next meeting will be at
the home of Mrs. W. Forbes, and
the roll call is to be an exchange
of plants and flower slips,
