The Ladies' Orange Benevo-
lent Association No. 377 held its
regular meeting in the lodge
rooms over the Clinton Public
Library, on Tuesday evening,
May 12. Applications for two
new members were accepted.
Members of LORA accompan-
ied by their husbands are in-
vited to attend the Seaforth
Chapter Birthday Party, which
will be held on Tuesday, May 19.
Members are asked to meet at
the library by eight o'clock on
that evening.
The Clinton Chapter No. 377
is holding its birthday party in
the lodge rooms on Tuesday,

During the evening, the guest
of honour was the recipient of
many lovely gifts, presented to
her by little Jennifer Grange
and Johnny Parent, who brought
them in on a beautifully decor-
ated wagon,
Later a delicious lunch had
been served by the hostesses,
and an enjoyable evening was
had by everyone present.

Wesley -Willis United Church,
Clinton, was the setting for the
evening wedding on Thursday,
May 7, of Elizabeth Marie, dau-
ghter of Mr. and Mrs. W, R.
Fitzsimons, Stanley Township,
and Edward James Robinson, son
of Mr. and Mrs. A. E, Robinson,
of Roblin, Manitoba.
Rev. Hugh C. Wilson officiated
at the double -ring ceremony and
Mrs. M. R. Rennie played the
wedding music.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, was lovely in a wed-
ding gown of brocaded satin with
short train. I-Ier finger-tip em-
broidered veil was caught to a
pleated tiara. She carried a cas-
cade bouquet of American Beauty
roses.
Dorothy Miskelly, Detroit, Mich.,
as matron of honor, wore a floor -
length gown of rose shot taffeta
with matching headdress and car-
ried a bouquet of talisman roses.
The groomsman was Fred Rad-
ley, Clinton. A reception was held
at the home of the bride's parents.
For the wedding trip to Mani-
toba, the bride chose to wear a
grey suit with red accessories.
The groom is on the staff of
RCAF Station, Rivers, Manitoba.
The young couple plan to make
their home in Brandon.

of May 7, The president, Mrs.
George Beattie, was ir: the chair,
Mrs. Harry Charlesworth was
pianist.
Mrs. Hugh Wilson, opened the
meeting by reading a poem for
"Mother's Day" on the power of
Prayer in the home. Ilyrnn "He
liveth long who liveth well" was
sung followed by prayer by the
president, The subject of the
devotional period was "Witness"
The
Scripture reading was given
ihy Mrs, James McLaren from
Col. 3; 12-17. "Lesson thoughts"
were read by Mrs. John Nediger
Jr,, Prayer was offered by Mrs.
Van Horne.
The secretary, Mrs. Frank

Of Worthwhile Work
Of United Church WMS
The May meeting of the Wo-
man's lVlissionary Society of Ont-
ario Street United .Church was
held at the home of Mrs. M.
Aiken on Tuesday afternoon, May
12. The president, Mrs. W. S. R.
Holmes, presided. The meriting
opened with the singing of a
hymn, the reading of a psalm,
and repeating the Lord's Prayer
in unison.
The worship service was con-
ducted by Mrs, A. G. Eagle. The
hymn, "Zion's King Shall Reign
Victorious" was sung. A poem
"Dreams" was read, followed by
the scripture lesson and prayer.
Reference was made to the Un-
ited Nations and the work wo-
men can do to help. One way
being to pray for its success.
The Watchtower was taken by
Miss S. Courtice, who spoke on
the work done for lepers. She
spoke of the cured and arrested
cases in Africa and what had
been done in rural sections.
Special mention was made of the
vast work done in India by the
Large number of roadside dispen-
saries and the help given to make
the cured' men and women in-
dependent.
She mentioned the work done
for lepers in Japan and the help
given- by the government hos-
pitals. Miss Courtice also spoke
of the work of the Bible Society
and told of the many languages
the Bible has been written in,
and of the spread of its distri-
bution.
A chapter from the study book
was read by Miss M. Wiltse. It
told of work in Northern lehod-:
esia and the need and opportun-
ity to help in the copper belts.
She read of the work done in
Central Africa by the Christian
Church, and also of the social
welfare. The work done by .the
WMS was a great help.
A hymn and prayer lead by
Mrs. Eagle brought the meeting
to a close.
