Charles Josling
curies Josling; 92, .one of Clin-
ton's oldest residents, died at his
home, James Street, Clinton, on
Tuesday, May 12:
Born in Clinton, a son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Josling,
he farmed in Htallett Township
until he retired and came to Clin-
ton several years ago, As a young
'Man he spent several years in the
Canadian West,
He was .a member of Ontario
Street United Church.
Surviving besides his widow, the
fernier Ida Izzard, are two sons,
Ralph Josling, .Goderich; and El-
gin Josling, Londessboro; three
daughters, Mrs, Leslie Bali • C1in-
.ton; Mrs. Norman Wrights, and
Mrs. George Wright, both of Lon-
desboro; and a sister, Mrs, Fannie
`Managhan, Clinton.
Funeral service was to be con-
ducted this afternoon from the
Ball and Murch funeral home,
'High St., Clinton, at three o'clock,
with Rev. Harold Snell, Exeter,
officiating, Burial was to be in
Clinton Cemetery.

James Reid, Stanley Township,.
passed away at St; .Joseph's...Hos
pita), London, on Monday,. May 11,
in his ,.62nd year,
Born in Stanley, he spent most
of his life there, He was an in-
dustrious and successful farmer,
well known and highly respected
by a large .circle of friends, Eight
years ago he solei his farm on the
-Goshen Line and retired to 4
Christie St., London.
Mr, Reid bas been in failing
health for some time. He went.
to Florida last winter but failing
to improve in health after some
weeks there, returned to London
and has been in the hospital for
two months,
He was a member of Varna
Methodist (later United) Church.
Since retiring he has been a mem-
ber of Metropolitan United
Church, London. He was a mem-
ber of Varna Orange Lodge.
He is survived by three sisters,
Mrs, David Elliott (Mamie), Clin-
ton; Mrs. Fred Mulholland (Ruth)

A short service was held. at his
home in London on 1Vianday even-
ing, conducted by his pastor, .Rev.
IVIr. Goth, 'The esteem in which
he was held. was shown by the
number of friends who called and
the numerous floral tributes.
Funeral service was held ,on
Wednesday afternoon from the
-Beattie funeral home, Clinton,
conducted by Rev. Annie Graham,
London, assisted by Rev, T. J.
Pitt, Varna.

terment was made in Bayfield
Cemetery,
The pall -bearers were: Wilmer
Reid, Murray Grainger, Varna;

were nephews, Merton Keyes,
James Elliott, Bob Elliott, Alex
Whitfield, Jack Mustard, Stuart
Keyes, Harry Reid, Bruce Keyes,
Gordon Hill, and George Cantelon.
Mars. Mabel Jenkins
Mrs, Mabel Jenkins, 66, who
died on Thursday, May 7, in Clin-
ton Public Hospital, had lived here
anther life. Her husband, George
Jenkins, died four years ago.
She was an active member of
Wesley -Willis United Church, and
of Huronic Rebekah Lodge. Dur-
ing her 20 years membership in
the lodge she had been a noble
grand and past district deputy.
There are no surviving rela-
tives.
Funeral service was held in the
13a11 and Muteh funeral home,
High Street, Clinton, on Saturday
afternoon, May 9, by Rev. H. C.
Wilson. Interment was made in
Clinton Cemetery.

Funeral service was conducted
in the Ball and Mutch funeral
hone, High Street, Clinton, on
Wednesday afternoon, May 13, for
Hattie C. Turner, beloved daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. George N.
Turner, who passed away in Clin-
ton, on Sunday, May 10.
Pall -bearers were Howard Crich,
Howard Johns, Roy Pepper, Ern-
est Crich,. Herman Crich and Al-
den Crich. Fohver-bearers were
Allister Broadfoot, Ted Turner,
George Shipley, Charles Shipley
and Clifford Keyes. Interment
was in. Clinton Cemetery.
John Miles Glidden

The death occurred at his home
in the village on Tuesday morn-
ing May 12, of John Miles Glid-
den, following a heart attack.
The deceased man, who was a
son of the late Moses GIidden and
Esther Todd, was born in East
Shefford, Que., October 27, 1873.
He was married to' Miss Mary
Catchapole, Granby, Que., who
predeceased him some years ago.
For many years he worked for
the Miner Rubber Company, Gran-
by, Que., and was the recipient
of a gold watch from the comp-
any, when he had been with them
50 years, in recognition of his long
service. He was a member of St.
George's Anglican Church, Gran-
by, Que.
After his retirement he came to
Bennington, Ont., to reside with
his sister, Mrs. Marion Francis,
and five years ago they came to
Bayfield to the home which Reg-,
inald Francis provided for them
on his property on Main Street.
Mr, Glidden had been in his
usual health, out. working in the
garden which he enjoyed, on Mon-
day, so his sudden passing came
as a shock to his friends here. He
is survived by his sister and neph-
ew, Bayfield, and other relatives
in Granby.
The funeral service was to be
held from Ball and Mutch funeral
home, Clinton, on Thursday'after-
noon, at 1.30 o'clock. The service
was to be in charge of the Rev.
E. Carew4ones after which the
remains will be taken to Granby,
Quebec, for interment.
Mrs. Charles Wolfe
Residents of Hensall and com-
munity were shocked to learn of
the sudden and tragic death of
Mrs. Charles Wolfe, a former resi-
dent of Hensall for 46 years who
passed away in Scott Memorial
Hospital, Seaforth, on Tuesday,
May 5, Her death resulted from
first degree burns to her body and
face,
Mrs. Wolfe, who has resided in
Seaforth for the past four years,
and w'ho was housekeeper for Mr,
George Grieve, Seaforth, was pre-
paring supper Monday evening.
As she reached across the stove
for a tea pot, the plastic apron she
was wearing caught fire, Mrs.
Wolfe ran screaming for help to
a lady of 72 years of age in an
upstairs apartment, who was un-
able to help her. A bookkeeper
in the building who heard her
screams called Dr. Gorwill who
rushed her to the Seaforth hospi-
tal
Mrs. Wolfe was a member of
St. Paul's Angliean Church, Hen-
sall, Formerly Clara Haggitt, she
was born at Sunshine, Ontario.
Mr. Wolff predeceased her some
years ago.
Surviving are two sons, Albert,
Goderich; Harold, Seaforth; seven
daughters, Mrs, Norman Baird,
(Edith), Brucefield; Mrs. Florence
Hohner, London; Mrs. R. Variey
(Mae), St. Catharines; Mrs. Geo-
rge Moir (Olive), Hensall; Mrs,
Manford Cooper (Myrtle), Sea -
forth; Mrs. C. Coughlin (Helen),
,Seaforth; Mrs. Glenn Delis (Shir-
ley), Hensall. Mrs. Wolff was in
her 66th year.
Funeral service was held from
the I3onthron funeral home, Hen-
sall, to Union Cemetery, Hensall,
on Thursday afternoon, lVfay 7.
Rev, C. L. Langford officiated.
Pall -bearers were John Peebles,
I3ob Sangster, Icon Moir, Iden
F•fohner, Melvin Cooper, Gerald
Moir. Flower -bearers were all
grandchildren of the deceased,
'Melina Baird, Darlene and Wayne
Coughlin, Gladys and Margaret

er, Carl Cooper.

Mrs, A. J, Mustard; Joan Cath-
arine, daughter of Mr, and Mrs,
Jack Taylor, and Donna Marie,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George
Clifton. Special flowers graced
the church, One pot of lovely
flowers had been presented to the
organist, Mrs. J. R. Murdoch, by
the mothers who sang in the Choir,

was followed by the roll call. The
treasurer, Mrs. H. Berry, present-
ed her report, The secretary read
notes of thanks from several who
had received flowers and cards.
Mrs. Wilson gave a good report
of the meeting that was held at
Wesley -Willis United Church,
Clinton, on April 7, when about
80 delegates of the Woman's As-
sociations of Huron County met recently decorated,
and decided to organize. After'
