Harry Nesbitt spent the week-
end at his home near Listowel.
L. Walden, London, spent a
couple of days last week in the
village.
Mr, and Mrs. M. Turland and
two children spent the weekend
at Kincardine.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Heard,
London, were in the village over
the weekend.
Mr, and Mrs. Jack Davidson,
Stratford, spent the weekend at
their cottage in the village.
Mrs. A. A. Armstrong, Bronson
Line, visited her sister, Mrs. C.
W. Brown on Thursday last.
Mr. and Mrs. S. Bryant, who
were at their cottage for a few
days; returned to London on Sun-
day.
Pte. Oliver Hopson, Camp Bor-
den, spent the weekend with his
wife and family at their home in
the village,
George Hewitt returned to Lon-
don on Sunday after having spent
a few days with his sister, Mrs.
Emerson Heard .
Mr. and Mrs. H. Hankie,
Beechy, Sask„ came two weeks
ago to spend some time as guests
at the New Ritz Hotel.
F/O Bate and family, who have
been occupying Dr. R. G. Hunt-
er's home, moyed into the Gard-
iner. cottage in Bailey Park this
week.
Mr. and Mrs. D. Bisback, Clin-
ton, and Mr. and Mrs. F. Ander-
son and Francis, Mitchell, spent
the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Ed. Sturgeon.. •
Mr, and Mrs. Robert MacLeod
and Cathie returned to London
on Tuesday after having visited
the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
L.•H. MacLeod, over the weekend.
.Mrs. A. W. Reid and Miss Kath-
leen Reid, Windsor, are at their
cottage, "Enfield," this week. Ber-
nard Reid and Mr. and Mrs. Jayn-
es Brown also were here on Sun-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Featherston
were here over the weekend. Mrs.
Featherston remained . to spend
- this week with her mother, Mrs.
Charles W. Parker, while her sis-
ter, Mrs, R. J. Larson, is visiting
in London this.week.
Mrs. D. MacKenzie returned to
her home in the village on March.

Mrs. David Dewar has sold her
attractive home and farm on the
north side of the Bayfield River
to Alf. Scotchmer, Jr., with the
exception of a lot east of the
orchard which she has retained.
Mr. and Mrs. Alf. Scotchmer, Jr.,
have desided to retire from the
summer tourist business (origin-
ally ownd by W. A. Mustard),
which they purchased from J.
Finch and Son in the spring of
1948 and operated successfully
since that time. They expect
to move to their new home in
the late spring or early summer
when they have disposed of their
present home and business.
87th Birthday
Congratulations go to Mrs.
Donald MacKenzie, Sr., who on
Saturday, March 28, marked her
87th birthday by a cafeteria din-
ner at her home in. the village,
at which 16 members of her fam-
ily, including her three child-
ren, sons-irl-law, daughter-in-
law, and several grandchildren,
were present, An Easter lily
graced the table, which was

with her husband lately returned
from the West Coast, gave inter-
esting highlights of their trip. The
centre of attraction was Mrs.
MacKenzie's great - grandchild,
baby John Malcolm Campbell.

blut were in Tavistock last week,
attending the funeral of Mrs.
Eckert Youngblut.

Bayfield Town Hall on Friday ev-
ening last for Mr.and Mrs. Jam-
es Cox who recently had their
barn destroyed by fire.
Progressive euchre and "500"
were played. Prizes in euchre
went to, high lady, Mrs. Frank
Boyce; high gentleman, George
Telford; low lady, Carol Vander -
Meer; low gentleman, Mrs. Hanky.

Kneeshaw; high gentleman, Rob-
ert Stirling; low lady, Laurene
Cox; low gentleman, Donald Har-

The lucky chair prize was won
by Mrs. John McCowan. During
the evening tickets were sold on
a box of groceries which was won
by Mrs. Logan Cleave.
Dancing was enjoyed to the
music of Stewart's orchestra.

Mrs. Harry Govier who has

winter with Mr. and Mrs. Charles

am's house and moved in last
week.
Little Nancy Jane Anderson,

Anderson, is a patient in Alexan-
dra General and Marine Hospital,

Ladies Guild
The March meeting of the Lad-
ies' Guild of the Anglican church
was very well attended at the
home of Mrs. Gordon. R. Taylor,
who was also in charge of the
meeting. The devotional period
was taken by Mrs. Jeremiah Tay-
lor and Mrs. Alfred Nesbit. A
solo was rendered by Miss Lila
Daer,
Readings were given by Mrs. R.
J. Philips and Mrs. Tony Tom-
kowicz in keeping with the the-
me of "Happiness" and a solo
was rendered by Mrs. George
Schneider, "The Stranger of Gal-
ilee." The topic on "How to Take
Life Happily" was given by Mrs.
Thomas Johnston.
Mrs. Gordon Taylor expressed
her gratitude to those assisting
with the program and the presi-
dent, Mrs. Alf Nesbit, presided
for the business period. Follow-
ing the secretary's and treasurer's
reports the roll call was answered
by a verse of Scripture contain-
ing the word "Peace"
Plans were made for an Easter
program to be presented in the
church during Easter week by
Mrs. W. E. Bramwell and the
choir as an Easter Thankoffering.
Rev. W. E. Bramwell closed the
meeting with prayer and a social
half hour was enjoyed during
which Mrs. Taylor served delicious
refreshments assisted by Miss Ev-
elyn McMichael. Mrs. R. J. Phil-
ips, in well chosen words, expres-
sed the appreciation of all pres-
ent for a pleasant afternoon.

Mrs, F. MacGregor conducted
the business session. It was de-
cided to ask all members to bring
to the April meeting bulbs, seeds,
or any article for an auction bas-
ket. Proceeds will go to the
Training School Fund.
