Centralia eliminates Colts,
Take Third Game 12-7
The playoff trail ended for
.
Clinton s (battling) Colts I as t Sat-
s
iirday evening in the Exeter Arena
when they lost their third straight
game to Centralia Flyers by a
12-7 score. As in their previous
meetinghe score z o n c
wasi i di a-
tion of the play but the result of
Centralia's ability to capitalize on
the majority of their breaks.
The game was very fast and
cleanly played with referees Me-
Fadden and Robertson, London,
handling the game to perfection.
The Colts were minus the services
of "Bud" .Schoenhals and Doug
Bartliff, both of whom had been
injured in previous games, and
their rugged bodychecktng at the
blueline was missed considerably,
McEwan was the top goal getter
for the locals, bulging the twine
on five different occasions: Murray
Colquhoun, and Ed, Dolmage eon-
-
Wilberforce played his best game'
netted for the other two. Clive

Centralia and Milverton start a
best four of seven series to decide
the group title on Saturday night

of the season for the Flyers with
five goals to his credit,
Centralia will now meet Milver-
ton in the group finals starting
Saturday night in Milverton. This
series should be .quite .a battle and
the ultimate winner will certainly
be a worthy representative of this
group, From the showings of Mil-
verton and Centralia in Clinton we
are inclined to think that Centralia
will take the honours but Milver-
ton has the knack of playing their
best hockey when the chips are
down and anything can happen.

Exeter Midgets Upset
Clinton Midgets 84
After winning the first game
5-1, Clinton Lions 1Vlidgets showed
a complete reversal of form aizd
wofent8-4d. own to defeat at the hands
of the Exeter Midgets by a score
Exeter forged ahead in the first
period 3-1 and were never ser-
iously threatened as they out-
played the locals throughout the
game.
With John Hartley missingi
n
from
the line-up, the Lions Midgets
big
line seemed to lose its usual co-
ordination and it was Hughie Col-
quhoun, Jack Holmes and Jack
Wise who provided the action in
so far as the local fans were con-
cerned. This line carried the play
every time they were on the ice
and with a little luck could have
made the game very close.
The third and deciding game will
be played in Exeter probably in
the week.

The team as a whole scored 170
goals in the 23 games that were
recorded (two exhibitions were not
counted in the summary) giving
them an average of better than
seven goals per game. The defen-
sive play of the team in general
seems to indicate that the reason
that the team, is not still in the
running is in the defensive play of
the entire team.
The Colts were not a heavily
penalized club, serving only 238
minutes in the sin -bin.

Scouts Investiture
Taken by Three
Tuesday, February 10, was
something more than an ordinary
meeting night for the lst RCAF
Clinton Scout Troop. It was the
occasion of an impressive investi-
ture ceremony when three Scout
recruits passed the first milestone
in their scouting career, by sol-
emnly taking the Scout Promise
and became Tenderfoot Boy
Scouts, Such a ceremony is one
of the most serious occasions in a
Scout's and a troop's history and
much credit is due the boys for the
admirable way they conducted
themselves throughout the whole
of this ceremony.
The boys taking the investiture
were: Eddy Chambers, Ross Crich
and Jimmy Powell. Congratula-
tions boys -may you have a long
and successful Scouting career,
Parents of the three new Scouts
and several members of the Scout
Group committee, were also in at-
tendance as guests,
Immediately following the cere-
mony a number of films were
shown, including one which de-
picted the many public services
the Boy Scouts of Britain carried
out during the blitz.
These in turn were followed by
an excellent lunch for the boys and
guests sponsored by the Catholic
Women's League of Adastral Park.
This was a fitting finish to a very
successful evening and the boys
soon disappeared down the trail
on their way home, contented and
completely at peace with the world
as only boys with full stomatics
can be.
1st Clinton Cub Pack
The Cub Pack had a successful
meeting on Monday, February 13,
at the Wesley - Willis United
Church. All new members of the
pack were presented with a white
neckerchief to be worn at all
meetings until they have passed
their tenderpad and have been in-
vested. One Cub was invested on
Monday night.
Wayne Ebbet, who has been
successful in passing his tenderpad,
was accepted into "A" Pack and
made a full member of the Scout
and Club organization. Assistant
Cub Master Roy Faulkner took
charge of "A" Pack for the evening
whilst the Cubmaster taught the
new Cubs about Mowgli and the
wolf pack.
The pack is in urgent need of
new assistance to look after the
large number of boys. Anyone
who has. had previous experience
in Cubs or Scouts and is willing to
give the pack assistance for an
hour per week please contact L. G.
Winter, Chairman of the Group
Committee.
The Scout and Cub drive for
funds for the projected Scout Hall
is going forward favourably. A11
Cub and Scout supporters in Clint-
on should obtain their "Booster
Cards" from one of the Scouts or
Cubs as soon as possible,
The pack would like to thank
R. N. Irwin for his donation of
material for the cub scarves and
also Ball=Macaulay for their don-
ation of wood for the cub signall-
ing flags. Mrs. Roy Faulkner and
Mrs. Jim Sigurdson kindly made
up the scarves for the Pack.
