EDWARD MURRAY MaeLEOD
Funeral service was eonducted
at the Bali and Match funerel
home, Clinton, for Edward M. Mc-
Leod, well known and highly -
respected citizen of Clinton area
who died after a short illness at
Victoria Hospital, London, on
Monday, February 2, in his 42nd
year. Rev. D. J. Lane, St. And-
rew's Presbyterian Church, Clin-
ton, officiated and burial was in
Clinton Cemetery. Pall - bearers
were. Francis Powell, Joseph Pot-
ter, Roy Tyndall, Alvin Wise, ail
of Clinton; Edward Shortt, Lon-
don; and Murray Graham, Kincar-
dine.
Mr, MacLeod, who was born at
Ripley, a son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Angus MacLeod. was a grad-
uate of the Stratford Normal.
School. He taught for some time
at S.S. 10, Stanley Township, and
later in Goderich Township at
Lobb's School. He then moved to
Clinton, where he was the local
representative of the Manufactur-
er's Life Insurance Company, and
in this capacity became widely
known throughout this district.
He was a member of St. And-
rew's Presbyterian Church, Clin-
ton, superintendent of its Sunday
School, clerk of the session, and
an elder in the church, and secre-
tary of the congregation.
Surviving are his wife, the for-
mer Greeta Broadfoot, Tucker -
smith Township; four Children,
Murray, 13; Kenneth, ten; Alex,
eight; and Catherine, three; three
sisters, Mrs. Donald McKenzie,
Mrs. Roy McKay, and Mrs. Joseph
Hackett, all of Ripley.
PATRICK O. REYNOLDS
Requiem mass for Patrick Os-
wald Reynolds, 82, who died at his
home, R.R. 1, Clinton, on Thurs-
day night, January 29, was sung
on Monday morning at St. Jos-
eph's Catholic Church, Clinton, by
Rev. J. L. O'Rourke. Interment
was in Hullett Roman Catholic
Cemetery.
Pall -bearers were six sons: Leo,
Fergus; Clement, Hubert, Harry,
and Earl.
Born in Hullett Township, he
was a son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. John Reynolds. In 1901 he
married the former Mary Ellen
Lynch, and they farmed in Hullett
Township. He was a member of
St. Joseph's Church and the Holy
Name Society.
Predeceased by his wife six
years ago, and a daughter, Rose,
14 years ago, he is survived by six
sons, Fergus and Leo, both of De-
troit; Harry, Sarnia; Earl, Clin-
ton; Clement and Hubert, both
of Hullett Township; one daugh-
ter, Mrs. George Carbert, Hullett;
two brothers, James, Seaforth;
Frank, Florida; and one sister,
Miss Kate Reynolds, Seaforth.
MRS. R. J. CAMERON
The many friends of Mrs. R. J.
Cameron paid their last tribute of
respect on Tuesday, January 20,
by overflowing the McLennan -
MacKenzie Memorial Chapel for
a funeral service conducted by the
Rev. G. A, Meiklejohn who refer-
red to Mrs. Cameron's uncomplain-
ing patience during her lengthy
hospital confinement, as an in-
spiration and a challenge. •
Mrs. Cameron passed away on
Sunday morning in Wingharn Hos-
pital about 48 hours after she had
suffered a heavy stroke. She had
been hospitalized since suffering a
fractured hip in a fall at her home
on October 21.

and was born at Auburn on March
27, 1879, She lived there and in
Clinton until the time of her mar-
riage.
In,.August 1909 she married R.
J. Cameron and during the snore
than two -score years she had lived
in Lucknow, Mrs. Cameron endear-
ed herself to a host of friends by
her friendly, kindly manner that
marked her as a good friend and
neighbour. Mr. Cameron prede-
ceased her in May of 1943. ;
Mrs. Cameron was a member
of the United Church, the WMS
and WA, the Women's Institute,
and the Ladies' Auxiliary to the
Canadian Legion and was an in-
terested and active member of the
various organization and for six
years was leader of a WA group.
Members of the Legion Auxil-
iary held a memorial service on
Monday evening at the funeral
chapel, conducted by Mrs. Philip
MacMillan and Rev. Meiklejohn.
At the funeral on Tuesday, Aux-
iliary members formed a guard of
honour and acted as flower bear-
ers,
Interment was in South Kinloss
Cemetery, the pallbearers being J.
L, MacMillan, Jack Henderson,
Archie Robinson, Stewart Taylor,
Barrett Taylor and Robert Simp-
son.
Mrs. Cameron is survived by one
daughter, Mrs. Nelson• Bushell
(Arabelle), Lucknow; two sons,
Kenneth, Lucknow and Stewart,
Port Colborne; two' sisters, Mrs.
Annie Taylor, Clinton; Mrs. Mae
Franks, Hamilton, and three
grandchildren, Barbara, Mary Ann
and Roderick James.

Funeral service for Frank Henry
Powell, 82, Clinton, who died Mon-
day, January 19, at the home of
his daughter, Mrs. Roy Tyndall,
was held on Thursday, January
22, from the Ball and Mutch fun-
eral home. Rev. A. G. Eagle of
Ontario Street United Church of-
ficiated, Interment was in Clin-
ton Cemetery.
Pall -bearers were six grandsons:
Frank, Roy and Joe Potter; Lorne,
Jack and Kenneth Tyndall. Hon-
orary pall -bearers were John Per-
due, John Gibson, John Batkin and
John Woon.
Born in the town of Russell in
Russell County, in the year 1870,
Mr. Powell was the son of Francis
and Martha Powell. Before his
marriage to Elizabeth Elliott,
Bayfield load, Goderich Town-
ship, he spent several years on
the British Columbia coast. The
remainder of his life was spent in
Clinton and Goderich Township
Mr. Powell was a member of
Ontario Street United Church and
spent several years on the Gode-
rich Township council.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs.
Susan Nadeau, Vancouver, B.C.,
and Mrs. Jessie Orange, Biscotas-
ing; four daughters, Mrs. Roy
Tyndall and Mrs. Clarence Potter,
Goderich Township; Mrs. Elliott
Layton, Tuckersmith Township,
and Mrs. Gordon Cudmore, Clin-
ton; one sen, Francis, Goderich
Township,
MILS. THOMAS VENNER
Mrs. Thomas Venner, 78, died
at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Thomas Donnelly, Goderich,
on Tuesday, February 2.
Funeral service was held on
Wednesday, February 4, at the
Lodge funeral hotne, Goderich,
with Rev. H, A. Dickson, North
Street United Church, officiating.
Interment was in Clinton Ceme-
tery.
Pall -bearers were Fred Bridle,
Archie Hamilton, Reg. 13e11, John
H. McDonald, Earl Westbrook and
John Fotheringham.
Formerly Flora M. Sutherland,
Mrs, Veneer was born near Kirk -
ton, a daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. John Sutherland. Sha
was brought up in Clinton an'l
lived here until moving to God-
erich seven years ago. Her hus-
band died several years ago.
She was a member of North
Street United Church, Goderich.
Surviving are three sons, How-
ard, North Bay; Arnold, of Little.
Britain; Gordon, of Pickering
Beach; two daughters, Mrs, Thom-
as Donnelly, Goderich, and Mrs.
Frank Bowes, Owen Sound; two
brothers, John and Andrew Suth-
erland, Oakney, Man.; and one
sister,. Mrs, Clark Switzer, Mit-
cheli; and seven grandchildren.
Her sister-in-law, Mrs. Chris
Venner lives here in Clinton.
