17-10 DAY, DTrG` A l✓l t , . leu2
Basketball .may be on the way
out in Clinton. At least that is
the information we can glean
from those that are connected
with the Clinton Trojans. The
management of the Trojans is
wondering just what they have to
do to get a crewd at their games.
They feel that they have .done
their share in producing a win-
ning team, one that is currently
leading the league, and yet they
can only get a handful of fans
at their home games.
it is so bad that the playera
themselves have had to dig down
into their own jeans and pay the
referee's expenses.
'Ibis corner does not know why
the sports minded people of Chrt
ton do not go and see a game or
two. We feel that if they went
to a game that they would become
ardent followers of the Trojans,
Those who have tickets on the
Clinton Colts Turkey Draw will
be interested to know that the
draw will take place between the
second and third period of the
New Hamburg -Colts game on
Saturday night, December 20. For
those who have not aa yet picked
up their tickets contact any mem-
ber of the team or pick one up at
one of the various stores that are
displaying then on their Counters.
Reports coining out of Milver,
ton have it that Harry Yost, Pop-
Ular defence player, suffered a
broken hand during the game be-
tween the Colts and the Domin-
ions. We hope that Harry makes
a speedy recovery and will soon
be seen patrolling the blue -line
once more.
We understand that the game
Played Last Saturday night in
Mitchell between the Legionaires
and Clinton Electras is being pro-
tested by the Electras. It seems
that the Electras were leading 10-
9 when time ran out on the big
time clock. The final hell did not
sound until the big clock had con-

tinned for quite a number of sec*
onds past the sixty minute mark
and during this :interval Mitchell
tied the score forcing .an overtime
period which the Legionaires
scored again winning the game 11-
10. ''he Electras are basing their
Pretest on the fact that the tieing
goal was scored after regulation
time had elapsed. Mitchell are
going by the word of the time-
keeper who apparently says that
the big clock was inaccurate and
that his stop watch showed that
the game was not over until atter
the tieing goal.
We do not know who is right or
wrong in this matter and we will
not take any sides in the squab
ble, but it might have been the
fault of the time keeper who was
perhaps so engrossed in the game
that he forgot to stop the strug-
gle at the proper time. This is
a very easy thing to do and each
team should be very careful in
selecting their men for such jobs.

Trojans Win 59.37
Still. Undefeated
Clinton Trojans racked up an
impressive 59-37. win over the
Wingham Comets at the CDCI
gymnasium on Tuesday night to
take sole possession of the top
rung in the London and District
Basketball Association (North
Group). Playing before a very
poor crowd the local team dis-
played an attack that completely
overpowered the Wingham cagers.
Ken Arkell again paced the
Trojans as they jumped to an
early lead and commanded the
play throughout. The locals were,
scoring almost at will and their
shooting, (which has been their
weakness to date) was all but per-
fect. Bob Elliott and George
Beatty, former stars of CDC',
turned in brilliant efforts counting
eight points each.
Lineups:
Wingham Comets: Saxton 10,
Currie 0, Brophy 1, Anderson, 0,
Hignell 6, Lloyd 2, Conron 0, Fer-
guson 18-37 points.

The opening game of the sched-
ule was far from being a profit-
able one in so far as the Colts
were concerned as their arch
rivals, the Milverton. Dominions -
trounced them 13-6. Clinton far-
ed far better than the score would
indicate and it was a disastrous
second period that sunk the Colts''
ship. Milverton were in far bet-
ter condition, at times skating the
local team into the ice.
Clinton led at the end of the
first period 3-2 but they ran out
of steam and Milverton scared
seven goals in the second to build
up a lead that was never in dan-
ger. The final period saw both
teams net the puck four times. Al
May was the big gun for Clinton,
scoring three goals; he seemed to
be the only player that could un -
track himself as he played one of
his best games. Bill Tideswell
played brilliantly, especially in the
second period when the Dominions
completely dominated the play and
were coasting in unmolested, stop-
ping many shots that seemed to be
certain goals.
Milverton showed some new
faces, the most effective being
McCallum and. Flood, both of
whom counted three goals. Ross
Kipfer and Bob Gaul were con-
stant threats as usual,
