THURSDAY, DECEMBER, 18, 1952 CLINTON NEW$4tEGORP PAM f PETER, .i'ofte3 BACK, SHOP "Christmas is coming, and the goose is getting fat; please, put a penny in the old mans hat". Sure and it looks as though we have a lot to be thankful for h this land of Canada. This small mouse, at least, is certainly thankful that be Mouse, and did not enter thin world in the guise of a goose. My goodiese, the nervous frustration of it, Can you imagine, when everyone else is looking forward to Santa Claus, and all those gifts and things, and you personally dreaming of the axe? Brrr, The idea gives me goose pimples. Coops. What did 1 say? , If it may please the court, .we would request that it be stricken from the records. Thank you. The windows of Clinton's mer- chants have struck an all time high this year, All time high, that is, in this mouse's life. We were especially pleased to note that up on Victoria Street the gentleman who has been strong- ly advertising for the Christmas season ever since Christmas, 1951, has changed his window display rather remarkably, at the same time keeping a Christ- Massy air about it. This new decorating scheme is carried throughout the rest of the estab- lishment, with quite good effect. We were really pleased to see this, because for twelve months now, we have been -extremely worried over the precarious position of the young lady in the original display. Throughout the whole year she has been teeter- ing madly on a ladder. We are glad to see .that She has been laid to rest, 1:1 EI We have the Christmas spirit here hi the back shop, too, these days, The Men have printed myriads of cards for People to send for the Day; they have set up the prettiest of Christmas ad- vertising for the merchants of our Town; the presses have been run- ning early and late, getting in gear for next year, when in order to publish Christmas week at all, the Clinton News -Record will have to come out on Wednesday. Real- ly, with the hustle and bustle of things, and to top it all off, the Christmas menus that are being set into type and printed, we really have gotten into the Christ- mas swing with a leap and a bound. © "Christmas is coming, and the goose is getting fat; please, put a penny in the old man's hat. Haven't got a penny? Half a penny will do, Haven't got a half -penny? Say, "God Bless You."
