Daydreaming is a waste of time. If you Ariake apractice of daydreaming in school you will al- ready know that it is rather em- bax'i'assing to be asked a question when you have no idea where you are. Surely, after beingCaught in thi',s situation a few times, you will try to break off your habit. But if you keep on, you will soon find yourself in a conversa- tion witha friend with anyone, for that matter. After a few minutes of silence spent ih clay - dreaming, you strike up the con- versation once more only to find your friend has gone while you were "asleep on yoiir feet," As you will find out, nothing feels more like a door knob coming off in your hand than trying to talk to someone who is not there. Back in school again you some- times (if you're lucky) get a spare. A spare is a paradise for a daydreamer who usually sits star -gazing for thirty-five minu- tes, All this useful time is wasted when you could be doing some of your homework, You may say that great invent- ions have been discovered by.day CLINTON KINETTE CLUB TURKEY DRAW A draw will be made at Hotel Clinton on Monday evening, December 15, at 9.30 p.nl. Clinton, December 9, 1952 (Signed) G. W. NO'S i`, Mayor 50-51-b 44-++-444e-+$ . 4+ri^r dreamers but more often i wen - tions came from men who spent years working and studying rat dam/!i ,J on/d(1kvl vA er than staring into space. At last it is Friday night, and you are going along the road 'in your dad's car. You have been daydreaming in school all week and sure enough you start again, thinking how lucky you are to have the car for your big date. The next thing you know you are in the ditch wound around a hydro pole. Maybe someday you will learn, Filially though it's not your fault you finish school and, be- lieve it or not, get a job. The big boss is at your office and is giv- ing a rather boring speech. Sure enough you fall into a trance and jump right out of your chair when he roars at you, Needless to say, you continue Your jump right out of` the door insearch But I suppose a newb. 4you must learn the hard way that daydreaming is certainly a waste of time. GERALD TEBBUTT, Gr. XII Daydreaming is not a waste of time. A person who is daydream- ing may be thinking of some great invention; or he could be sound asleep. Usually it is the latter. Of course there are exceptions. Many inventors daydreamed their ideas into profits. A good example is the fellow who first thought that stars travel in cir- cles. He was daydreaming in school one day when the teacher's ruler descended on him. He saw many stars of all sizes travelling in circles around his head. From this he reasoned that stars travel in circles around some central body. And then there is the fellow who reasoned that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. At the time, he was walking in a daydream on top of a high cliff when -he walked over the edge and fell unharmed in a big hemlock tree. From this he reasoned that it was much shorter and quicker to come down the way he did than to follow the long winding path down the face of the cliff. Besides, he fig- ured he might fall off the path and get hurt. And then there is the fellow who proved the theory that a rol- ling stone gathers no moss. He was sitting on the side of a hill daydreaming when a big boulder came crashing down and just grazed his skull. From this he realized that if the stone had had some moss on it, he wouldn't have gotten hurt. Now you can see how some of our .useful things in life were begun by someone's day- dreaming, -D.
