Basketball should become a very
popular sport in Clinton if the
newly formed Clinton Trojans con-
tinue to give the fans games like
the pee that was played in CDC
gynrnaSluri last Monday evening.
That game which yodr reporter
had the privilege of witnessing
will definitely bring out more fans
to the next contest. Most of the
people who saw the game went
home talking to themselves about
Clinton's new entry.
There was very little fault to
find with the game itself and with
a little .more practice the Trojans

Will certainly give the best teams
in the league a terrific battle.
We would tike to .congratulate
those who are responsible for the
formation of the team and the
players themselves and wish there
all every success in the coming
campaign.

The 7Crp,ans have now rn
into a tie for the league leader-
ship in their group as a result of
their 48-42 victory over Wingham
on Tuesday evening. From all re
ports this was a real game with
Wingham leading all the way un-
til the final quarter when the
Trojans scored 15 points, A big
highlight of the game was the
playing of Bob Elliott; Bob scor-
ed only one point but his defensive
play saved the game for Clinton,

CLINTON TROJANS
BEAT WINOHANI;
TIED FOR LEAD
Beat Wingham in Thrilling game
Clinton Trojans moved into a
tie with St. Marys for the league
leadership in the London District
Basketball Association as they
downed the Wingham Comets
48-42 in Wingham on Tuesday
evening.
Led by Ken Arkell, who had 22
points, the Trojans controlled
much of the play but their shoot-
ing was very inaccurate and must
be remedied as soon as possible.
Defensively Bob Elliott and Pat
Humphreys were standouts. Bob
broke up one rush after another
and practically controlled the
ball off his own backboard. Pat
Humphreys, with his great play -
making ability, set up many of the
Trojan's scoring plays and at
times outguessed the entire Wing -
ham team.
Saxton was the big man for
Wingham accounting for half of
his team's total points.
Wingham took an early lead and
were ahead 14-13 at the quarter
and 26-25 at half time.
Clinton stepped up the game in
the last half and led by 15 points
with four minutes remaining in
the game.
Fouls nearly stopped the Tro-
jans and after Bob Elliott was
forced out of the game, Wingham
came on strongly but finished six
points short as the final whistle
sounded.
