Speaks To Men's Club
A turkey dinner was the feat-
ure of the St. Andrew's Men's
Club gathering on Wednesday,
November 19. A fine attendance
was recorded and the men enjoyed
a delicious dinner, served by the
Girls' Club members.
President Alvin Sharp presided
over a splendid sing -song led by
Bill and Frank Mutch and Bert
Boyes, and also conducted the re-
gular business which included the
reading of the last meeting's min-
utes and their adoption.
All bills presented were ordered
paid and plans were made for the
December meeting which is to be
held on Friday, December 12, in-
stead of the third Friday, to avoid
the Christmas rush, Stewart Mc-
Ewen is the monthly convener
and will have charge of the meet-
ing. Arrangements were made for
catering at the supper meetings
throughout the winter by a com-
mittee previously appointed.
The special guest speaker for
the evening Rev. Glen Campbell,
Seaforth, congratulated the men
of St. Andrew's Church on their
club and the work it was doing,
He spoke about the methods em-
ployed by the men in First Chur-
ch, Seaforth. In his fine address
entitled "The Search for HaPpin-
ness," he said that the search for
happiness was a common feature
of all kinds of people and he out-
lined several ways men try to
find it. The constant go, go, go,
of people is just a manifestation
of their desire for happiness.
Mr. Campbell held the attention
of the znen through his whole dis-
course and finally climaxed his
talk by referring to Professor
Sandwell's five requisites for real
happiness:
1. One must have an intense in
terest in his fellowmen.
2. One must throw himself into
some cause greater than himself.
3. One must be aware of the
needs of the needy and seek in
helping them.
4. One must have faith in his
fellowmen.
5. No one can attain the by-
product of happiness without
faith in God. A faith which will
serve under'every aspect of life's
experience,
Royce Macaulay, on behalf of
the club, complimented the speak-
er on the address and all its im-
plications. A vote of thanks was
tendered to George Cox for his as-
sistance at the piano.
