Club.
In 1925, September 29, he was
married to the former Daisy
Nediger, -Clinton, Also surviving
are one daughter, Margaret, who
teaches at S.S. 9, Goderich Town-
ship; and two sons, Lloyd and
Ralph, at. home; two sisters,
(Emeline), Mrs. Ervin Zinn, Dun-
gannon, and (Viola), Mrs. Charle$
Nelson, Clinton; two brothers,
Bruce, Clinton, and Clifford, God-
erich.

BRUCEFIELD Obituary
Wise, Murray Holland, Douglas
Holland,, Wesley Holland, Clark
Zinn and Teddy Turner.
A widely known and highly
respected citizen of Clinton, Nor-
man Holland passed away on Sat-
urday, November 22 at his late
home on King Street at the early
age of 56 years.
Mr. Holland was born in Gode-
rich Township, son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. George Holland, and
carried on agricultural pursuits,
and droving business in this com-
munity, all his life.
The deceased was a member of
Wesley-Willis United Church, and

Funeral services were held on
Monday, November 24, for Nor-
man Holland, at the George Beat-
tie funeral home, Clinton, with
Rev. H. C. Wilson officiating.
Honorary pall-bearers were N,
W. Trewartha, William IVICEwen,
John Sutter, William Falconer,
Vernon Terryberry and Ernest
Townshend. Active pall-bearers
were Lorne Jervis, Thomas Turn-
er, William Stirling, Roy Tyndall,
Stanley Jackson ,and Ernest
Brown.
Flower-bearers were Fred Gib-
son, Donald Andrews, Stewart
Broadfoot, Harold Wis.), Alvin

who have lived in the village for
the past year, have moved to

ly with their brother, John

While helping with the con-
struction of William Burdg&s
new house in Brucefield, William
Rogerson, William Fotheringham
and William Burdge narrowly
escaped injury when the scaffold-
ing on which they stood, broke
and they fell some 14 feet to the
ground.
Mrs. D. Tough has been visiting
with Mr. and Mrs. W. Sparks,
Bayfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Petrie,
Toronto, visited on the weekend
with the Jatter's brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Robert.
Allan.
Mrs. Alex Paterson visited
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Bert Sholdice, Brinsley, on Sun-
day,
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gray
visited on Saturday afternoon in

MRS. CATHERINE J. COOK

Public funeral service was held
from the Bonthron funeral home,
Hensall, on Saturday afternoon,
November 22, for Mrs. Catherine
J. Cook, who passed away sud-
denly on Thursday evening, in her
83rd year. Rev. C. L, Langford
officiated, assisted by the Ladies'
Auxiliary to the Canadian Legion,
Hensall Branch. Interment was
made in Maitlandbank Cemetery,
Seaforth.
Born in. Hay Township, Mrs.
Cook lived in Stratford for some
time before coming to Hensall.
She was a member of St. Paul's
Anglican Church, Hensall; the
Women's Institute, and the Ladies'
Auxiliary to the Canadian Legion
Her huslland, William Cook, pre-
deceased her.
Surviving are two sons, Roy,
Toronto; William, London; one
daughter, Mrs. William Ingram,
New York,
REV, JAMES FOOTE, B,A.
Funeral service was conducted
at the Needham Memorial Chapel,
520 Dundas Street, London, on
Tuesday afternoon, November 25,
for Rev. James Foote, B.A., who
passed away suddenly in Victoria
Hospital, London, on Saturday,
November 22. Rev. D. J, Lane,
St. Andrew's Church, Clinton, of-
ficiated, assisted by Rev, Louis
Shien successor to Mr. Foote at
Carleton Place; Rev. J, Kincaid,
Belmont; Rev. Donald Sinclair
Exeter. Interment was made in
Baird's Cemetery where Mr. Lane
was assisted by Rev. W. J. Main-
es, Brucefield.
Pall-bearers were Robin McAll-
ister, James McAllister, Watt
Webster, George Anderson, Adam
Wilson, Charles McKenzie.
Mr. Foote was born 78 years
ago in Stanley Township, near
Varna, son of John and Ann
Foote. He received his primary
education at S.S. 10, Stanley, and
his secondary education in Clinton
Collegiate Institute. He graduat-
ed in Arts from the University of
Manitoba, Winnipeg, and from
McGill University, Montreal, tak-
ing his theological course there at
the Presbyterian College.
At his induction in 1907 into
the pastoral charge of North
Bruce and St. Andrew's in Bruce
Presbytery, he was also ordained
and remained minister there for
four years.
His next charge was at Thed-
ford and Lake Road, where he
was called in 1911, and he gave
seven years' service. In 1918 he
became minister at Caven Church,
Exeter, and served that congrega-
tion until 1929, when he was cal-
led to St. Andrew's Church, Carle-
ton Place, Lanark and Renfrew
Presbytery. Mr. Foote's ministry
in Carleton Place lasted for 21
years, until he retired in 1950.
Since that time he had made his
home at the old home, "Bannoch-
burn" in Stanley Township.
While in Huron Presbytery, he
was Clerk of the Court for four
years, and in the Presbytery of
Lanark and Renfrew held the
same office from 1931 to 1950.
Mr. Foote was greatly loved in
all his parishes and made himself
a friend to all classes, whom he
served.
Surviving besides his wife, the
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Middleton;
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Middleton,
were the ghests of Dr. and Mrs.
Edward Mullens last week while
attending the Royal Winter Fair,
Toronto.
Miss Myna Middleton, Goderich,
visited last week with her sister• -
'n-law, Mrs. C. B. Middleton.

Word was received by relatives
here on Tuesday of the death of
Robert James Middleton Marks
which occurred in Colorado
Springs, Col., on Monday, Novem-
ber 24, 1952.
The deceased man Who was the
second son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Tudor, J. Marks, was born in
M Bayfield, arch 19, 1877. As a
young man he went to Colorado
Springs where he started a whole-
sale fruit business which he op-
erated successfully until ten years
ago, when, owing to ill-health, he
retired, and the business was con-
tinued under the management of
his sons.
Besides his wife and two sons,
Tudor and Henry, Colorado
Springs, he is survived by two
brothers, Charles, Bayfield, Reg-
inald, Edmonton, Alta., and a sis-
ter, Ethel (Mrs. Crofut) Kansas
City, Kansas.

ed the Royal Winter Fair.

ich, spent the weekend with Mr.

Mich.
