Mr, and Mrs. Reid, Toronto, vis-
ited with Mr, and. Mrs, Bert Al-
len over the weekend.
James Hesselwood has been
WIT ill for the past two weeks,
but is now improving slowly.
Mrs, Ed. Youngblutt spent a

few days with her son arid dau-
ghter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Stan-
ley Youngbiutt, Goderich.
Mrs. Nellie Watson, who was
visiting with her daughters and
families at Hensall and Kippen,
returned home Monday evening.
Mr, and Mrs. William Thinking
are visiting friends in Toronto for
this week and also took in the
Royal Winter Fair in that city,
Mr, and Mrs, Frank Tamblyn
spent the weekend. with Mrs, El-
eanor Humphreys, Chatham, and
also their daughter Margaret, at
Dresden,
Mrs, William Lyon left for
Hamilton on Sunday where she
will remain. for the winter months
at the home of her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. Moroso.
Mrs. (Dr.) Cameron, Jane and
David, Toronto, and Mrs. M, Bal-
lantine, Brussels, were 'visitors
with Mrs. E. j, Crawford and Mr.
and Mrs. F. Frost on Saturday
last.
YPU Church Service
A special service in keeping
with YPU week in Canada was
held in. the Londesboro United
Church on Sunday night, under
the auspices of the Burns-Lon-
desboro YPU,
A short address on the theme,
"For The Facing of This Hour"
was given by the president Clare
Vincent. Others taking part in
the service were Mrs. Ted Think-
ing and Grant Snell. Special
numbers were sung by the choir,
under the direction of Gail Man-
ning.
Londesboro W. A.
The regular meeting of the Lon-
desboro W. A. •was held in the
Sunday School room of the church
on Thursday, November 20, with
an attendance of thirty-five.
After the call to worship a hy-
mn was sung and Mrs. S. Lans-
ing read the scripture. Prayer•
was offered by Mrs. B. Shob-
brook. The minutes of last meet-
ing Were read and adopted.
Cards of appreciation were read
from Mrs. M. Little and Mrs. H.
Longman. The treasurer's report
was given. Mrs, C. Bail and Mrs.
W. Lovett were named a commit-
tee to bring in a slate of officers
for 1953. The roll call for Dec-
ember will-be a gift for a child-
ren's Hospital. Program commit-
tee for December, Mrs. S. Lan-
sing and Mrs. Lyon.
Readings were given by Mrs. L.
Pipe and Mrs. H. Durnin. A
quilt was quilted during the after-
noon. The meeting closed with
the benediction, Lunch was ser-
ved by the hostesses.

Grace Church WA
The monthly meeting of the
Woman's Association of Grace
Church was at the home of Mrs.
Elgin Cox on Thursday, November
13. The president was in. charge
of the meeting which opened with
singing "Jesus, Saviour, Pilot Me,"
and followed by the Lord's Prayer,
Mrs, Will Cox read the scripture
lesson and roll call was answered
with an Armistice verse,
Secretary and treasurer's re-
ports. were read and adopted and
reports of the various committees
were heard, Following the busi-
ness discussion, readings were giv-
en by Mrs. William Townshend
and the meeting closed by repeat-
ing the Mizpah benediction. The
remainder of the afternoon was
spent in quilting. A lovely lunch
was served by the hostess and a
social half-hour spent.
Community Club
The Porter's Hill Community
Club held its regular meeting at
the home of Mrs. Austin Harris
on. Wednesday last. The president,
Mrs. Peter Harrison, was in
charge of the meeting which op-
ened by repeating the Lord's Pray-
er in unison. Roll call was an-
swered with a mending hint. The
secretary's report was given by
Mrs. Allen Settles and the treas-
urer's report by Mrs. Bert Harris,
The mystery prize, donated by
Mrs. E. Cox, was won by Mrs.
Austin Harris.
The program was in charge of
Mrs. William Mcllwain and Mrs.
Robert Mcllwain, and consisted of
a contest and readings.
The meeting closed with the
Mizpah benediction and the host-
ess served a lovely lunch. The
December meeting will be at the
home of Mrs. John McCowan.
Grace Church WA Will Meet
The December meeting of the
Woman's Association of Grace
Church will be held on Wednes-
day afternoon, December,3, at the
home of Mrs. Gordon Manning:

er's Hill school on Friday night

M. Wiltse; •carrying prize, Mrs. A,

Prizes in euchre went to: ladies'
high, Shirley Bell; men's high, Al-
len Dale; ladies' low, Mrs. Edward
Grigg; men's ,low, Edward Grigg;
carrying prize, Edward Grigg,
Before lunch was served, Gerald
Bell, who is home from Korea,
was called forward and presented
with a signet ring from the Gode-
rich Township council and with a
pen and pencil set from the Com-
munity Club. In a few words,
Gerald expressed his thanks for
his gifts and also the boxes which
the Community Club had sent him
while in Korea.
Following lunch, dancing was
enjoyed to the music of Irwin's
Orchestra with prizes as follows;
First couple on the floor, 'Wilmer
Harrison and Mrs. William Stirl-
ing; longest married `couple, Mr.
and Mrs. Chris Dale; most bald—
headed man, William Clayton;
spot dance, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton
Laithwaite; elimination dance,
Shirley Bell and Mildred McDoug-
all; best waltzers, Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Anstay.
During the dance the floor was
cleared and tickets sold on 13
articles. Lucky draws went to
Mary Townshend, Mrs. Alvin
Betties, Chris Dale, Mrs. William
McIlwain, Ewan Ross, Mrs. Will
Cox, Marion Jones, Da Grigg, Mrs.
Gordon Orr, Jimmy Harrison, Hil-
da Hicks, Chris Dale and Mabel
Wright.
