Tuckersmith Ladies
Mrs. William Rogerson was ap-
pointed president of the Tucker -
smith Ladies' Club at the meeting
held at the home of Mrs, Les
Lawson on Wednesday, November
5, when 14 members and eight
visitors were present.
Following the opening ode and
the Lord's Prayer, a song was
sung and the minutes of the last
meeting were read, Roll call was
answered by "What I Consider
Great in a Woman."
A 'note of thanks from Mrs.
Frank Falconer was read. The
treasurer's and sewing commit-
tee's reports were read. Cleaning
of the church will be in charge of
Group 3. A donation of $10 will
be made to the Salvation Army.
At the December meeting,
which will be held at the home
of Mrs. William Rogerson, an ex-
change of 75 -cent Christmas gifts
will be a feature. Roll call will
be answered by "My happiest time
at Christmas."
After another group song, a
short programme consisting of a
reading by Mrs. Frank Walters
and a contest conducted by Mrs.
Greg MacGregor, the meeting was
closed with the use of the Home-
maker's prayer.

was held at the school on Friday
night, November 7, under the

Instals New Officers
Members of Clinton Chapter,
Order of the Eastern Star, No.
266, and of other,Chapters
throughout Southern Onario, met
on Thursday night, November 6, in
the Parish Hall of St, Paul's Ang-
lican Church, Clinton, to attend
the installation ceremonies, when
the Clinton Chapter officers were
installed for the coming year.
Mrs. Stelle McRae was instal-
led as worthy matron to follow
Mrs, Opal Jones, who was the first
to hold that office in the recently
formed Clinton Chapter. W. V.
Roy became worthy patron to
succeed Sidney Jones who was the
local chapter's first worthy pat-
ron.
The installing matron, Mrs.
Pearl McDonald, Cooksville, (past
grand matron) assisted by Dave
Kennedy, London, (past patron),
conducted the ceremonies.

Mrs. J. M. Betties
On 80th Birthday
Mrs, J. M. Betties celebrated
her 80th birthday on Monday, No-
vember 3, at the home of Mrs.
Peter Young. All the family was
present, with the exception of Mrs.
Jordan, who lives in Vancouver
and was able to be home last sum-
mer for a visit.
Theron, Winthrop; Allan, Port-
er's Hill; Erland, Toronto; and
Elma, Goderich, were all on hand
to enjoy the dinner of well -cook-
ed fowl.
Mrs. Betties received many
gifts and cards, and a bouquet of
flowers from the United Church
in Goderich.
She has lived in Goderich for
the last fourteen years, since leav-
ing the farm. She is in good heal-
th, enjoys a short walk on nice
days, and finds pleasure in motor
trips.

last week that The Right Rever-
end G. N. Luxton, Bishop of Hur-
on had appointed the Reverend
Eric Carew -Jones, formerly Vicar
of Dersingham, King's Lynn, Nor-
folk, England, to be the Incum-
bent of this parish. •
Mr. Carew -Jones was ordained
by the Bishop of Bristol in 1934,
He was RAF chaplain between
1936 and 1942. Since 1943 he has
been the Vicar of Dersingham on
the late King's Estate near Sand-
ringham. He is a man who has
had wide experience not only
through the chaplaincy, but also
in his work with young people and
children.
The Reverend and Mrs. E, Car-
ew -Jones with their three child-
ren left England aboard The Em-
press of France on Tuesday and
are expected to arrive in Bayfield
the early part of next week.
Ontario St. WA Hears
Report on 'Sectional
The Woman's Missionary So-
ciety of Ontario Street United
Church held its November meet-
ing at the home of Mrs. Fletcher
Townsend on Tuesday of this
week. The president, Mrs. A. J.
McMurray, presided.
The meeting opened with the
singing of a hymn and a prayer.
Mrs. C. E. Elliott conducted the
worship service based on the
theme, "The Bible as a Means of
Grace in Our Day." Scripture
lessons were react' by Mrs. Swan
and Mrs. W. Hoggarth, and hymn
183 was sung as a prayer.
The nominating committee ap-
pointed consisted of Mrs. M. Wilt -
se, Miss S. Courtice and Mrs. C.
Martin. Reports were given. A
bale of clothing valued at $420
has been sent to Toronto to be
forwarded to Korea.
