Fowl Supper Clearing $325 on the, turkey supper served to a good crowd on Thursday evening, October 30, the ladies of Brueefield United Church, were able to report a job well done. Good co-operation was shown between the different organiza- tions of the church, as everyone worked together to make a suc- cess of the evening. Following the supper, a pro-. gram was presented in the aud- itorium of the church, which featured three films shown by Robert P. Allan. Burnham Fisher, Don, and, Mr. and Mrs, Middleton Fisher, Mitch- ell visited their aunt, Mrs. F. A. Edwards, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas King, Toronto, spent the weekend, with the former's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George King. LAC Ted Gill and Mrs. Gill left for Toronto on Wednesday after having spent a week at the home of Mrs. R. H, F. Gairdner. Mr, and Mrs. R. Larsop visited their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Larson, Lon- don, from Friday until Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. West- lake and Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Toms spent Sunday in Owen Sound with P.C. Lloyd and Mrs. Westlake. Mrs. Ed Schnell, returned home on Saturday after having spent two weeks with her sister, Mrs. Elton Schnell, Detroit, and niece, Mrs. R. Nicholls, London. Mr. and Mrs, Keith Pruss and baby daughter returned to Lon- don, on Monday after having spent the weekend with Mrs. Pruss' parents, Mr. and Mrs, J. H. Parker. Mr. and Mrs. N. McConkey, Kitchener, spent the weekend at their home in the village. With them were their son and daught- ereinslaw, Mr. and Mrs. John Mc- Conkey, London. a Mr.. and Mrs. Ralph Nicholls were 'here over the weekend, On their return to Londan they were accompanied by the latter's moth- er, Mrs. F. W. McEwen, who will spend the winter in the city. Errol Shilliday, student of Huron College, conducted the service in Trinity Anglican Church and throughout the par- ish on. Sunday last, and will be in charge again this coming Sunday. Rev. and Mrs. F. H. Paull, Listowel, were with Mrs. N. W. Woods over Tuesday night after having attended the induCtion service of the Rev, Dr. K. E. Taylor, OBE, as rector of St. George's Church, Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Weston, who have resided in the apartment over Kingsbury's store since re- turning to the village over five years ago, moved into the upstairs L apartment at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Heard on Monday. Mrs George Lindsay and son, Brown, visited her oldest son, George Lindsay, and family in Paris over the weekend. They went and returned via London to visit Mrs. Lindsay's brother, Charles Switzer, KiPpen, who is seriously ill in St. Joseph's Hos- pital. Harold Rogers, 0.8.E„ and daughter, Diane, mnd Mrs. R. G. Hunter, Toronto, were with their parents, at the latter's home in the village over the weekend. On their return, they were accomp- anied by Mr, and Mrs. Charles Rogers who will spend the winter at their home in Hamilton, .Mr .and Mrs. Ernie Parker and son, Earl, Naicam, Sask., have been making the home of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Parker, Varna, their• headquarters while visiting relatives in Bayfield and this dis- trict for two weeks. They motor- ed East with their son Ernest who went on from here to Greenwood, N,S., where he is stationed with the RCAF. United Church W.A. The United Church women met on Thursday evening of last week at the home of Mrs. Steckle with a large attendance. Miss A. V. Stirling, Christian stewardship secretary conducted a panel discussion on the subject of stewardship with many taking part. The ladies discussed planea for the banquet to be served to the orangemen on November 6. Halloween Party The Hallowe'en Party in the Town Hall 'on Friday evening was well-attended and a good time was had by the youngsters and a. good number of the older folk who still retain a youthful spirit. Sponsored by .the Bayfield Lion's Club, the affair was effic- iently organized by the following committee, Charles Scotchmer, Spencer Ervine, Grant Turner and Bill Clark with Alf Scotchmer Jr., as chairman. The judges. were Mr. and Mrs. R. No. 4. The evening was spent playing bingo, and a program of mouth organ music provided by Bert Pepper, James Nott and Gor- don Johns was much enjoyed. Hemet and Mr. Robert Bezeau, Kitchener, and Miss Karen Munro, Stratford, were in the village on Friday night and attended the Mission Band Hallowe'en Party, Mrs, Harry Williams is a pat- ient in Victoria Hospital, London, following an operation performed on Saturday morning, Her friends wish Mrs. 'Williams a quick re- covery. Rev, and Mrs. M. G. Newton, Mrs, William Norman, Mrs, W. Yeo, Mrs. Frank McCullough and Miss Rita Yee were in 33130 last Tuesday night to see the showing of the film "The King's Man." Mission Band Party The Wilhelmine Mission Hand, Hoirnesville United Church, held a Hallowe'en Party in the school on Friday night, October 31. There were about 65 children and adults who, enjoyed the contests and moving pictures, shown by H. M, Bezeau, Kitchener. Judging of costumes was done by: Miss Rita Yeo, Mrs. Ivan Jer- vis, Mrs. E. J. Trewartha and Mrs. H. Zeman, Goderich. Prizewin- ners in the pre-school class were: Shirley Norman, David McCul- lough, April Jervis and Douglas McCullough; age six to eight, Bonita Williams, Cathie Potter, Marilyn Yeo, and Jim McCul- lough; age nine to ten winners, Ted McCullough, Franklin Yeo; age eleven and over, Mary Helen Yeo, Frances McCullough, Elean- or Yeo and Dawn Grigg, Lunch was served by the Miss- es Sandra Williams, Helen Potter, Ea Grigg, Messers Frank McCul- lough, Jack Yeo and Edward Giagg. Miss Stella Rutledge, Goderich, who, has been visiting her sister Mrs, J. Taylor, has returned home. Mrs. W. J. Craig visited at Lon- don with Mr, and Mrs. George Wilkin and attended the Area Convention held in Hotel London, Mrs, Alfred Nesbit attended the area convention of the Women's Institute held in Hotel London. She was a delegate from the Aub- urn Institute. United Church W.A. The October Woman's Associat- ion meeting was held in. Auburn United church. Mrs. E. Wightman was in charge of the devotional period. Prayer was offered by Mrs. Albert Campbell. Mrs. Ev- erett Taylor read the scripture. Mrs. Morris Bean gave a read- ing. Mrs. E. Rodger sang a solo, Mrs. R. W. Hughes, Goderich, was welcomed and gave an interesting talk on "Getting things done." An electric tea kettle was pres- ented to the W.A, by Elizabeth Grange and Marlene Easom on be- half of the Junior congregation. Mrs. Bert Craig, presided for the business period.
