Seaforth Golden Bears defeat-
ed Clinton Red Devils 17-5 in the
opening game of the local foot-
ball season. The game, played
on the 11C.A.F Sports "geld, was
very closely contested with num-
erous searing ehnaces for each
team. SeafOrth opened the scor-
ing, Jacobi firing a Pass to Me-,
Milian in the end zone far the
"TD". The attempted kick for
the extra point was blocked, Sea-
forth added another touchdown
just before the end of the first
half as Jacobi threw a long pasa
to Stewart who was behind the
Red Devil's secondary and he
went the remaining ten yards for
the score. The convert was good
and Seaforth was ahead 11-0 at
half time.
Clinton got their only points
early in the third quarter as
Murray Colquhourt intercepted a
pass and romped 35 yards before
he was brought down on the ten
yard line. Gibbings immediately
threw a pass to Mitchell for a
touchdown. The attempted con-
vert was rdissed.
Late in the final quarter Mc-
Millan intercepted a Clinton peas
and on the next play Jacobi was
over for five more points, Mc-
Millan converted „making the
score 17-5.

The 1st Clinton Lions Cub Pack
has had two very, successful
meetings so far this year. Last
meeting night twenty-four boys
turned out in, uniform as well as
four boys in the reserve pack. Due
to the lage number of boys atten-
ding a new six was forMed with
"Brown Six" to be the name, The
new Sixer is Lewis Ling and his
second is Paul Pickett. The sixer
of the blue six is Charles Bartliff
and Ken Knights is his second,
Murray McEwan is sixer of the
green six and Peter Garon is his
second. Sixer of the Red Six is
John Sharp and his second is
Larry Daw, Senior Sixer of the
pack is Barry McClaren. The
Pack is very fortunate to have the
assistance of four of the scouts
who have been coming down on
Monday nights to help the cubs
in their instruction. These Scouts
are "Butch" McClaren, Bill Mar-
tin, Art Groves and Bill Clifford.
Ken Knights and Wayne Ebbets
passed their tenderpad tests and
were invested before the pack and
welcomed into the Scout move-
ment.
The meeting ball in the Wesley-
Willis United Church basement is
open every Monday night at 6:45
so that boys will have an extra
fifteen minutes to pass tests before
the regular meeting commences.
The combined Scout Troup of
the 1st Clinton Lions and RCAF
Scouts had a very good meeting on
Wednesday night. There were
thirteen Clinton Scouts out and
seven boys from the RCAF. The
meeting started at 7:15 and car-
ried on until the closing ceremon-
ies at 9;30 p.m. Chief of Police
Ferrand was on hand to instruct
the boys in first aid. The RCAF
Troop have gained the assistance
of a former scout from Goderich
in Cpl. Adamson. Cpl. Adamson
has had quite a wealth of exper-
ience in the movement both as a
scout and a leader and will be a
welcome addition to the troop.

Revised standard Version of the Bible
s-gteramort Iti • 1hr 11111'
For 16 years leading Bible scholars worked
at the Revised Standard Version of the Holy ,
Bible. It is now ready-more accurate than
any other version and far easier to read. It
is based on the most authoritative manu-
scripts - some, recently discovered more
ancient than any previously known. It is
written in the living language we use to-
day, yet the poetic beauty of the King James
Version is preserved, Here at last, is a
Bible all can read, understand, enjoy.
