The fire alarm was turned in on Monday morning about half-past ten, when stove pipes at the home of Mr. and 'Mrs, Robert Turner, Louisa Street, caught fire, The brigade answered quickly but it was not necessary to use the hose as the fire was kept under con- trol, with hand extinguishers. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. West- lake, Blue Water Highway, Stan- ley Township, accompanied by Mrs. William Hensall, spent a weekend recently with the latter's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. George McIntyre, Port Stanley. Twenty-one sat down to dinner at four o'clock, including three of her grandchildren, Max- ine Smith, Billy and Bob Parker. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Parker, who visited ,his mother last week, left on Sunday evening for London. They will also visit in Sarnia, Ann Arbor, Mich.; and Cleveland, Ohio, before returning home to Nekoma, N.D. Mr. and Mrs. M. Mack, and daughter, Mrs. McFadden, Or- illia, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Atkinson over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Bergen, Kitchener, visited Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Poth, over the weekend, David Dewar, Toronto, spent weekend with his mother, Mrs. D. Dewar. Stirling and.Mrs. Priscilla Elliott Goderich, are spending this week with the former's son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs, Lewis Bailey, Am- herstburgh, Ales Weston attended the fun- eral of his nephew, Harvey John- ston, Toronto, who was drowned in Goderich last week. His sister, Mrs. Eva Hardy, Toronto, return- ed with him for a short visit. Bob Stirling had the misfortune to get thrown off a load of- beans. Hebroke his leg at the hip, And. is in a London Hospital at pres- ent. His many friends hope to see him back home before long. Alfalfa seed is running high.
