Ontario Hydro's $300 Million Project Progressing
Timber form for No. 3 draft tube is shown in place waiting for concrete to be poured. This
is one of the seven draft tube forms which are part of the first stage of the $300 million Sir
Adam Beck-Niagara Generating Station No. 2. At the right can be seen the cofferdam structure
holding back the rushing waters of the Niagara River as workmen proceed on the placing of the
draft tubes and the 592-foot steel penstocks. Over a quarter-of-a-million tons of rock were
blasted from the 300-foot cliff face prior to work proceeding on this phase of the powerhouse'
structure. This projett was visited recently by newsmen from Western Ontario.
