Hensall School Fair
A meeting of the Hensall Com-
munity School Fair Board was
held Thursday evening, September
4, in the Council Chamber • with
the following directors present:
William Parke, chairman; P. L.
McNaughton, H. C. Bell, J. Sin-
clair, A. W. Kerslake, H. Parker,
B. Riley, also present were J. But-
ler, Clinton, assistant Agricultur-
al Representative, and the follow-
ing teachers: Mrs. R. Simpson,
Miss W. Gray, Miss R. Avery, 'Miss
M. Schiek, J. Blackwell, and - J.
Jefferson.
Secretary-treasurer, James A.
Paterson, presented the financial
report of 1951, and stated a bank
balance of $200.95 as of December
31, 1952.
It was decided to charge 25
cent admission to the School Fair
to be held in Hensall Community
Arena, Friday, September 12, at
8 p.m. Participating will be four
rooms from Hensall Public School;'
S.S. 10, Hay; S.S. 1 and 2 Tucker-
smith; S.S. 7 Hibbert. The con-
tests in conjunction with the
school fair will be held in the
Town Hall, October 3, at 8 o'clock.
Judges will be Mr. and Mrs. H.
Sturgis, and C. Blowes, Exeter
A delegation from the Legion
appeared and offered to make a
grant to the Fair and also thank:-
ed the Board for changing the
date of the Contests in the Hall,
The Huron Expositor Trophy a-

will be awarded on the point ,sys-

were delegated to appear before
the Council and ask for the, usual
grant from the same.

from a pleasant holiday with
friends in Detroit.

family spent the holiday weekend

have not seen for forty years.

Calgary, Alta, who is critically ill.

School opened on Tuesday morn-
ing with. Miss Anne Shaddock,
Clinton, as teacher. There are 28
pupils enrolled with 3 pupils start-
ing in Grade 1 and 2 newcomers to
the community, The beginners

Wilhemlne Mission Band The Wilhelmine Mission Band,
Vnited Church, held.
its regular meeting in the school
on Friday, Sept, 5. With ,Mary, Hutchins as 'leader, the eeting
opened with the hymn -"Little
Drops of Water" follewed by the Mission Band purpose, Maxima
Leibold led in prayer.
The business was conducted by
the president, Kenneth Potter.
Eleanor Yeo read ,the scripture,
Psalm 1.1-6, and he temperance and peace items were taken by.
Ted McCullough and Barbara Yeo.
The hymn "Mother of .Salene"
was sung, and Mrs, Jack Yeo rend
a story "Ming Lee's Candle Fly"
and led the 'group in a .game. Ken-neth Potter read a poem "The
World is off 'to School." The
meeting closed with the hymn
"Stand Up for Jesus", and the Miz-
pah Benediction.

Grace Church W.A.
The September meeting of the
Woman's Association of Grace
Church, Porter's Hill, was held on
Wednesday, September 3, at the
home of Mrs. Peter Harrison:- The
president was in charge of the
meeting, which opened with sing-
ing "Come. Ye Thankful People
Come," and repeating the Lord's
prayer, followed by, the secretary
and treasurer's reports. Various
committee's gave reports and after
the-business discussion, Mrs. Aust-
in Harris conducted a contest.
Roll. call was answered by the ex-
change of a jar of pickles. The
afternoon was spent quilting.
The meeting closed by singing
"The Day Thou Gayest, Lord Is
Ended," and the benediction was
followed by a social half hour.and
lovely lunch. •
The next meeting will be at the
home of Mrs. Wilmer Harrison
with program in charge of Mrs.
Elgin Cox and Mrs. Frank Picot.
