Mr. and Mrs. James Robinson and two children, Clearwater, Florida, arrived on Sunday to vis- it the former's mother, Mrs. W. H. Robinson. Mrs. Alex. Reoch and three children, Bobby, Allan and Billy, North Toronto, came on Friday to spend a week with her father, W. W. Higgins. Mr, and Mrs. William F, Buch- an returned to Dunnville on Mon- day after baying spent the week- end with the former's sister, Mrs. N. W, Woods. Mr. and Mrs, S. Kirstine and Mr. and Mrs. Jack McKnight, Walkerton, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Glen McKnight, Lloyd's Cabins, The Firemen's Bingo held in the Town Hall on Friday evening last was very successful and the lunch counter in the fireball was also well patronized, Miss Shirley Cleave has return- ed to her home •on the Bronson Line after having spent the Sum- mer with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cleave. Mr. and Mrs. D. Bisback, Clin- ton, and Mr. and Mrs. F. Ander- sen and son Francis, Mitchell, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs Edward Sturgeon. Mr. and Mrs. Neill Mustard and four children, Toronto, are holi- daying at the Mustard cottage. Charles Mustard, Toronto, was also there over the weekend. The many friends of Mrs. W. W. Higgins who went to Clinton Public Hospital, a week ago Sun- day for treatment hope that she will soon impeove in health. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas James, Detroit, and Miss Kathleen Reid, Windsor, came on Monday to spend a vacation with the latter's mother, Mrs. A. W. Reid, "En- field." Mr. and Mrs. Donald Noble and two children, Gregory and Karen, and Mrs. Noble, Sr., have returned to their home at Leamington after having spent a week at Lloyd's Cabins. A collection was taken up at the movies and social evening held at Egerton Beach, on Saturday even- ing which was donated to the Bay- field Beach' Safety Fund, for the pneolator. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Lewis, Wind- sor, are the guests of Mrs. V. C. Quarry who is at "Llandudno." Mr. and Mrs. J. C. McKeon and son Barry, Hamilton, were also her guests the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Roddick left on Friday for Halifax after having spent a vacation at "Llandudno," their home in the village. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Grainger and daughters, Miss Elaine, Mary and Helen Grainger and Mr, and Mrs, T, M, Snowden, motored to Blissfield, Mich„ and spent a few days with friends 'there. Mr. and, Mrs. 'Walter ' Scott, London, and James Hodgson, Myrtle, Man., visited with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Penhale, on Tuesday. Mr. Hodgson made the trip from Winnipeg to Toronto by plane This is the second flight from Western Canada that he has made since his 80th birthday, The August meeting of the Stanley Community Club, was held at the borne of Mrs. William Sin- clair with the president in the chair. The meeting opened by re- peating- the Lord's Prayer, follow- ed by the Secretary and Treasur- er's reports. A short business discussion was followed by a program with Mrs. John H. McEwan and Mrs. Cliff Stewart giving readings. The meeting was closed by the benediction followed by a social half hour and lovely lunch. Miss Mina Proctor, Toronto., came last Friday to spend a week with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. George King. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Harper and son Barry, New Dundee, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Poth over the weekend. Miss Ruth Murray returned to Deroit on Tuesday after having spent a vacation at the home of Mrs. R. H. F. Gairdner. Mr. and Mrs. William H. John- ston moved into their hAne, which they recently purchaseffirom Mrs. L. G. Bassett, last week. Mr. and Mrs. George Fisher, Waterloo, spent, a few days this week with his son Munro and fam- ily in the IVIcPortIand cottage. Mrs. R. B. Johnston left on Tuesday for Sault Ste Marie to re- sume her teaching duties on the Kindergarten staff of that city. Mrs. L. M. Miss Louise Allen, RaMiltoo,, is visiting her brother and Sister-m- law, Mr. and Mrs, Edward Allen. Mrs, James Moody and friend spent a month at Johnson's Deer Lodge, Bayfield, Mrs, Moody, though getting along in years, very much enjoys a vacation at the lake, and generally manages to spend some tine there in the summer. Mr, and Mrs. Robert Barr, Patsy and Jeanne, Burlington, visited on Sunday with , and Mrs. William Dinnin. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Munn, London, were also there with their children. Richard Munn, who spent a week with 'his grandparents, returned to London with his family. WMS August Meeting The regular meeting of the Women's Missionary Society met in the school room with Mrs. Rob- ert Allan, president, in. the chair. Mrs. Norman Walker presided for the worship service on the theme, "The Bible, our Guide to Christ- ian Faith and Conduct." The minutes were read and approved. The roll call was answered by a verse on Forgiveness. Miss M. Swan gave a paper on Temperance. Mrs. Allan gave a report on the Training School Fund. It was decided to enter- tain the Bally Band at the next meeting. Miss E. Bowey and Mrs. R. Scott will be the lunch committee. Flans were discussed for the autumn "Thank Offering" and was with them stayed until Mon- day morning. Dr. and Mrs. J. G. Walker, Bur- lington, have been holidaying at "Shangri-La" for the month of August. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Stewart and Miss Jean Walker, London, joined them for the last two weeks of the month. Rev. G. D. Gemmill and two children, Lillian and Billy, Toron- to; the Rev. Dr. A. M. and Mrs. Dawe, Ruth, Ross and Ryerson, St. Johns, Nfd„ were the guests of Rev, and Mrs. H. J. E. Webb, over the weekend. Mrs. Dawe is Mrs. Webb's• sister and Rev. G. D. Gem- mill her brother-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baker, Sylvia, Connie and Gwen, London, are holidaying at the home of" their father, F. W. Baker. Their eldest daughter, Mrs. Don Robinson, Toronto, spent a weekend here with them, and Mr. and Mrs, How- ard Burt and daughter, JoAnne, London, were here last weekend., Mrs, Louise Crane, Diane and Michael, and Mrs. Charles Plater, Eric, Kenny and Billy, Detroit, spent the weekend with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. MacLeod. On their return they were accompanied by Misses Margaret and Joan McLeod, who are visiting Mrs. Crane this week. John McKenzie returned to the village after spending a week at Lake Couchiching, where he was a representative of the Y.M,C.A at a conference of Public Affairs where there were many prominent speakers from EnglandeU.S.A. and Canada. Miss Jean MacLeod, New London, P.E.L, who came to at- tend this conference was the guest of Mrs. J. McKenzie for a few days.
