DASEWOOD TAKES
FIRST BALL TITLE
IN HURON-PERTH
The little town of Dashwood
have won their first Huron-Perth
League title. This is a feat that
the people of that village don
be very proud as their team is
made up of local boys with the
exception. of Bob Stormes, their
ace left-hander, who hails from
St. Thomas. They have been
coming close for the past two or
three year and now have finally
achieved their objective.
From all reports the townsfolk
Welcomed the Wain home in grand
style. The town band, trustees
and over 300 cheering fans were
waiting for the team after their
6-5 win over Clinton RCAF on
Tuesday evening
Dashwood now enter the "D"
series playoffs, meeting the Zur-
ich-Lucan winner.
O
Lions Midgets Ousted
By Exeter Midgets
The baseball season came to an
abrupt end as far as the Clinton
Lions Midgets are concerned, The
local lads lost their series with
Exeter in two straight games.
They went down battling, how;
ever, losing the second contest
6-5 in an abbreviated five-inning
affair.
Rob Carrick on the mound for
Clinton, held Exeter to two hits
but his lack of control proved
the deciding factor. In the first
inning Exeter scored three runs
on six free trips to first, com-
bined with. a passed ball. In the
third, three walks and two hits
accounted for three more runs.
The Lions Midgets batted
around in the first with four hits,
good for four runs. In the sec-
ond they had four more hits but.
could manage only one run, when
two men were thrown out at-
tempting to steal second.
Elliott, Colquhoun and Howes
led the Clinton batters with two
hits each. Wells and Taylor were
the only Exeter men to hit saf-
ely.'

score gave a creditable showing.

Nine Ministers
Rev. John McNeil continued as
minister until 1909, and was fol-
lowed by Rev. A. Macfarlane un-
til 1925. At that time Church
Union came about and the con-
gregation became part of the
United Church, of Canada, receiv-
ing a number of families from
the Methodist Church which was
then closed. Since then, during
twenty-seven years, there have
been seven ministers: Rev. H,
Kennedy, Rev. R. M. Gale, Rev.
H. Currie, Rev, E, Wolland, Rev.
A. S. Colwell, Rev. F. Stotesbury
and Rev. Peter Rennor, the pres-
ent pastor. •
On. Sunday last the congrega-
tion not only celebrated its fifti-
eth anniversary, but also the re-
decoration of the church interior
which was accomplished this
spring as part of the golden an-
niversary,
Baskets of beautiful gladioli
placed by friends added bright-
ness to the services which were
conducted by Rev. Peter Rennor,
pastor of the church,
The guest speaker was Rev.
W. J. Maines, Brucelield,
Mr. Maines chose as his text
at the morning service, "Behold,
we have forsake% all and fol-
lowed Thee. What shall we have
therefore?" "What has religion
got to offer?" This was the ques-
tion Mr. Maines answered in his
sermon.
At the evening service, the
text was "For me, to live is
Christ, to die is gain," and the
thought was a continuation of the
morning theme, "the Christian
life."
The choir was assisted by Mr.
and Mrs. 3. 'Whiteside, Stratford,
who, in solos, duetts, and helping
in the anthem, assisted materially
in the service of praise.
