Deceased was married on Jan-
uary 1, 1878, to Adam Weir of
Dorcheater Township, and in 1.885
they moved to a farm in Hullett
Township, Huron County, where
they resided until the passing of
Mr. Weir in 1907.
Surviving Mrs. Weir are two
eons, Leonard E. Weir, Dunn-
ville and Joseph E. (Ted) Weir,
Peterborough. A son, R, Archi-
bald, predeceased her in 1928.
Also surviving are a number of
grandchildren and great grand-
children.
Mrs. Weir rested at the Ballard
Funeral Home, Dunnville, until
four o'clock. Thursday afternoon,
August 7, when service was con-
ducted by Rev. L. E. Smith, of
Grace United Church, Thence to.
the Carrothers Funeral Home,
London, for service on Friday at
2.30, followed by interment in'
Clinton Cemetery on arrival by
motor, about 4,30 p.m,
The services *at London and
Clinton were conducted by Rev,
J. A Agnew, assisted by Rev. G.
W. Moore.
Mrs. Weir had been a life-long
member of the Methodist church
and later the United Church. At
Clinton she belonged to Ontario
Street United Church and tar
several years was in the choir. In
London she belonged to Centen-
nial and later to Wesley United
Church,

The death occurred' at his rest,
dence early Wednesday morning,
Almost ..6, of a highly respected
citizen of Bayfield in the person
of David Charles Dewar, in his
eight-fifth year.
He was born March 31, 1868, on
the homestead on the Sa.uhle Line,
Stanley Township, being the four-
th son„ of the late Charlotte Ann
Thompson and James Dewar. Here
he grew to young manhood, and,
fellOwing big father's vocation,
purchased a farm of his own, also
on the Sauble Line -(now owned by
John Rau, Blue Water Highway).
On April 29, 1$02, he was married
ta. Miss Ada Elva Watson. They
lived on the Blue Water Highway
until 1917 when they pnrChased-
.and moved to their present home
north of the village, overlooking
the river.

affairs. He served. on the Stanley
Township Council for seven years,
two of which. he was, reeve. He
also was a Member of the Trustee •

The funeral of the late William
John McLeod which was held from
Trinity Church,.Reyfield, at 3
o'clock urt Thursday afternoon,
August 7, was very largely atten-
ded, The burial service was taken
by the rector,. Rev. H. J. 1J. Webb
and interment followed in Bay-
field Cemetery.
The pallbearers were; Robert

The deceased man who died in
Clinton Public Hospital at
3:15 p.m., Monday, August 4, 1952,
following an automobile accident,
was born in Bayfield, November
27, 1907, and was the eldest son
of the late Emma Richards and
William JohreaMeLeod. He had
resided here all his life.
Until his father's death in 1940,
he was associated with him in
commercial fishing and later took
over his sail boat, "Donald Mac."
He was a good sailor, having
learned to handle a boat at an ear-
ly age, and he knew well the wat-
ers on this side of Lake Huron.
But despite his love of the sail, he
was the first here to purchase an
all-steel, 40' power-driven tug in
1947. It was the first steel tug
made by Mathieson Boat Works,
Goderich, and with it John Mc-
Leod kept an open channel in
Goderich Harbour the 'first Winter
and Spring. .Named the "W. J.
McLeod" he brought her to berth
in Bayfield at the opening of the
fishing season. For the past two
years his brother, Donald McLeod,
has been associated with him in
operating the craft.
He was a member of Trinity
Church, and L.O.L. No. 24, Bay-
field.
On June 27, 1936, he was mar-
ried to Lillian Mae Murray, who
with four daughters, Joan, Helen,
Roberta and Freda (Twins) mourn
his loss. Surviving also are four
sisters, Lucy (Mrs. Charlet Plat-
er), Anne (Mrs. Claude Robbins),
Louise' (Mrs. Crane), Detroit;
Elsie (Mrs. A, Sullivan), Romeo,
Mich.; and two brothers, Harold,
Hope, B.C., and Donald, Bay-field.
The sympathy of all goes out to
the family so sadly bereaved.

Fernlee. Turner, beloved wife of

Kra Turner was the daughter
of the late Rev, and Kis, 5.
James Arlin, Mr. Allin was
former pastor of Ontario Street
United Church, Clinton.
Deceased, who was bgrn in
London, Ont., received her edu-
catien in London and Par hill
sehoola and Alma College, St.
Thomas, Her passing will be re,
gretted by Clinton friends who
remeniber her talent as soprano
vocalist and will recall the ser-
vices she rendered .in the church
choir. '

Pheebe (English) Weir, widow of •
the late Adam :Weir, aged 96
years.
Mrs. Weir was born in London
Township on June 23., 3.056, a dau-
ghter of the late Thomas and
Nancy English, and she lived for
a number of years in London,
until moving to Dunnville eight
years ago, Since when she has re-
sided with her son, Leonard.
