Cochrane Reunion
At jowett'S Grave, 13ayfield, on
Saturday, July 12, the 25th An-
nual re-union of the Cochrane
family was held with over 100
guests present from Clinton, Sea-
forth, Exeter, Zurich, Hensall,
Toronto, Owen Sound, Palmerst-
on, •Illinois, Flint, Michigan and
North Dakota,
The reunion this year ‘'was to
celebrate the 100th Anniversary
since the family came from Kil-
marrioch, Scotland. John Coch-
rane, his wife Margaret with three
daughters and two sons arrived in
Canada in April 1852 and settled
on Lot 9, South Boundary, Stan-
ley Twp., on the farm still owned
by Alan Cochrane. There are
287 descendants of John and Mar-
garet Cochrane.
A bountiful lunch was served
with two beautiful four-tiered
anniversary cakes decorating the
table. One of these was decorated
and brought to the picnic by Mrs.
Arthur Porterfield of Flint,
Michigan.
The officers for the following
year are: President, J. C. Coch-
rane, Seaforth; Secretary, Kath-
leen Lockhart, Owen Sound,
Treasurer, James McAllister, Zur,

The annual convention of the
Canadian Business Schools Assoc
iaton was held recently at the
Genosha Hotel, Oshawa. Repre-
sentatives from business schools
across Canada were present. The
Goderich Business College has
been affiliated with the associa-
tion for several years and has
enjoyed and benefitted by the
many privileges and advantages
sponsored by the association.
Miss Jean Lownds, president of
the association and Principal of
the Lownds School of Commerce
New Westminster, B.C., arrang-
ed for several outstanding speak-
ers in the education field. Pub-
lishing and business machines
companies had on display the lat-
est in school equipment.
Gordon Scott, of Scott Business
College Ltd., Saskatoon, was el-
ected president for the ensuing
year. Directors for two-year per-

ROBERT FORREST
Robert Forrest, highly respected
resident, passed away in Clinton
Hospital, Sunday evening, July 13,
after a month illness, in his 79th
year, Mr. Forrest was' born in
Stanley Township on the Parr
Line and farmed there until
he retired to Hensall five yearS
ago to reside with ,his sister Miss
Barbara Forest. He was a mem-
ber of Hillsgreen United Church.
He was unmarried. Surviving are
two brothers, John, Stanley Town-
ship; William, Hensall; and one
sister Barbara, Hensall. Resting
at the Bonthron Funeral Home,
Hensall, where public funeral ser-
vices were held Tuesday, July 15,
at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. W. J.
Maines, Brucefield. Interment
was in Bayfield cemetery.
