Baird Picnic
The Baird family picnic was
held this year at Blight's Grove,
just north of Sarnia, on Lake Hur-
on. There was a good attendance
although not as large as in other
years. Present from the 'Bruce-
field district 'were: Mr. and Mrs.
T, B. Baird; Mr. and Mrs. Seldon
Ross and family; Mr. and Mrs.
Stewart Baird and family; Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Moffatt; Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Baird; Hugh Gilmore;

family; Mr. and Mrs. George
Baird and Miss Tena Baird; Mrs,

basement of St. James church
Middleton, on Monday evening,
July 21. The first part of the
evening was spent in playing a
friendly game of euchre,
The highlight of the occasion
was the presentation of gifts to
three newly-wed couples, of which
the three bridegrooms all live
within one half mile from the
church. Rev. H, J, E. Webb, rec-
tor of the parish welcomed ell
present and called the newly-mar-
rieds to the platform, namely,
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Steep; Mr.
and Mrs. Ray Wipe and Mr. and
Mrs. Donald Middleton.
The presentation address was
read by Joseph Storey and the'
gifts were presented by George
Wise., John Deeves and Clayton
McCulough, Mr. and Mrs. Steepe
received a card table and a walnut
table; Mr, and Mrs. Wise a red
upholstered lounge chair and Mr.

The regular meeting of the
Porter's Hill Community Club was
held on Wednesday afternoon last,
at the home of Mrs. Bert Harris.
The president, Mrs. P. Harrison,
was in charge of the meeting.
_Secretary and treasurer's reports
were read and adopted. Miss W.
O'Neil and Mrs. McKinnon, Clin-
ton were present and gave talks
on the work of the Hospital Aux-
iliary. Tickets were sold on the
mystery prize, the winner being
Mrs. McKinnon. Mrs, Bert Harris
and Mrs. Alvin Betties conducted
contests and Mrs. Peter Harrison
gave a reading.
The meeting was closed by re-
peating the Mizpah Benediction
and the hostess served a lovely
lunch.
The August meeting will be at
the home of Mrs. Peter Harrison.
