DAVID COOK Death came near Essex, Ontario, on June 17, to Annie Elizabeth Churchill, daughter of the late Dr. William Churchill and Eliza- beth Gibbings Churchill, Clinton, told beloved wife of the late David Cook. The funeral took place from the E. 3. Hicks funeral home, Es- 4 111111110111111111111 MRS. LEWIS TEBBUTT Mrs, Lewis Tebbutt died at her home in Seaforth, early Thurs.. , day Morning, June 19, following an illness lasting more than five, years. She was seriously ill for' a week before her death. Mrs. Tebbult, the former Mary Martin, was bon in Tuckersmith Township 80 years ago. Married at the home of her parents in Tuckersznith, she and her husband lived there until I 1946, when they moved to Sea- forth.. Mrs. Tebbutt attended SS 8, Tucicersznitla and the Seaforth Collegiate Institute. She was a , Member of Eirst Presbyterian C hUrch Seaforth. Surviving are her husband, and one sister, Mrs. Luff, Hamilton. The funeral was held from the G. A. Whitney funeral home, Seaforth, on Saturday afternoon, with Rev D. Glenn Campbell conducting a service. Burial was in Clinton Cemetery. MRS. ROBERT LAWSON A highly respected resident of littllett Township, passed away on July 3rd, in the person of Mrs, Alvina Mary Johns Lawson, wid- ow of the late Robert Lawson. Mrs. Lawson, had been ill for the past eight months following a hip fracture, After a lengthy stay in the Clinton Hospital, she was tak- en to the home --Of her daughter, Mrs. John Davidson, Huron Road, where she remained until her death. Mrs. Lawson was born in Tuck- ersmith. Township in Sept. 1867, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Edwin Johns. She was married to Rob- ert Lawson in Dec. 1888. They, farmed in Colbourne Township and then moved to their farm in Hullett 42 years ago. Mr. Law- son predeceased her in Dec. 1940. Mrs. Lawson was a member of Constance United Church and a fife member of the Woman's Missionary Society. The funeral was mid from the Ball and Muteh funeral - home, Clinton, on Saturday afternoon, with Rev. A, W, Gardiner, Eg- rnondville United Church, officiat- ing, Burial was in Clinton Ceme- tery. Pallbearers were six-neph- ews, Howard and Edwin Johns, Wilfred Seeley, Harold Lawson, George ,Leitch and Edgar Law- son, Flowerbearers were Reg. and . Bob Lawson, Andrew Davidson, Stanley Johns, Ted Warren, of London, and Norman Willis, of Kitchener. Surviving are 4 sons, Roy, of ,IcKillop, Earl and Lorne of Hul- lett, Les, of .Tuckersmith, 2 daughters (Myrtle). Mrs. John E. Busby, of Chatharn, and (Jean) Mrs. John Davidson, of Huron Road, also 6 grandchildren and 1 greatgranddaughter, 1 brother Ad- dison F. Johns, of Newmarket, and 2 sisters, Mrs. Albert Seeley, of Clinton, and Mrs. Albert Albin, of Goderich. Among those froM a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Harry Boag, Newmarket; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lawson, Stratford; Mr, and Mrs. Edgar Lawson, Auburn; Mr. and • Mrs. Ted Warren and Lynda Ann, Lon- don; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Willis, Kitchener; Edwin Johns, Mit- chell; Mrs. Albert Allin, Miss Dorothy Albin. and Mrs. William Hoy, all of Goderich; Mr. and Mrs. Scott Davidson, Milbank; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Busby, and Shir- ley, Chatham. CECIL WELWOOD ROWDEN Funeral service was held from the E. J. Harding funeral home, Mount Brydges, for Cecil Welwood Rowden, on Monday afternoon, July 7, under the auspices of the Masonic Order, of which he was a past master. Rev, C. Allison, St. Jude's Anglican Church, of which the deceased was a member, and was warden at the time of his death, had charge of the serv- ice. Interment was in Mount Bry- dges cemetery. Cecil Rowden passed away sud- denly at Mount Brydges on Friday evening. He had been in his usual health and having completed his day's work, he complained of feel- ing ill and died a few hours later. Born in Goderich Township 58 years ago, the late Mr: Rowden sex, on June 18, where Rev, P. A. Facet' conducted the service, to Clinton Cemetery en June 19, where Rev, A. Glen Eagle con- ducted the graveside ceremony. Friends and relatives present from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Smithenclorf, Essex; Mr. and Mrs. Cote, Delhi; E. S. Livermore, Q.C. and Mrs, Livermore, Lon- dim; Mrs. Clarence Green, Grand Bend. Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Smithondorf, Essex; Mrs. Cote, Delhi; Evelyn Churchill, London; two stepsigters, Mrs. James Livermore and Mrs. Lena Jackson, Clinton. J. A. SHEPPERD DALE James Allison Shepperd Dale, beloved husband of Ida May Stev- ens passed peacefully into rest in Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, July 2, in his 71st year. He was born in Hullett Town- ship, the son of the late George Dale and Martha Shepperd, on the farm where his son Earnest now lives. He was married in 1902 to Ida May Stevens and had farmed all his life in Hullett. Surviving are his wife and fakir sons; Allison, of London; Earnest, Elmer, and Carman. all of Hullett. Five daughters (Myrtle) Mrs. Jos- eph Read, (Jessie) Mrs. George Cunningham, (Ethel) Mrs. Reg. CLINTON NEWS-REeORD was the the ion of the late Witham J. Rowden and Jennie Richardson. Re received his early education Clinton, and for the past .35 years had been with the C.P,R. ot various Ontario points. He was agent at Caradoc for the past six years. 1921 he married Margaret Murry, who survives, Also sur- viving are two sons, Kenneth, Guelph; Frank, Mount Brydges; one brother, Bert, Goderich Town- ship, and one granddaughter. JOHN MESSERITH John Messerith, an inmate at the County Homo for eighteen years, born in Italy 78 years ago,. died on Friday, July' 4, at the Horne. Funeral service was conducted on Saturday, July 5, at S:30 a.m. from St, Joseph's Roman Cathalic Church, Clinton, and burial , was made in the plot at Clinton Cem- etery. MRS. 'CORD WIGLE (BY our Bayfield correspondent) The death occurred suddenly at her. home in Windsor on June 23 of Mrs. Cord Wigle. Formerly Hazel, eldest daugh- ter of the late Maude Cordon and Capt. Alexander Brown, the de- ceased woman was born. in Bay- field 59 years ago. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Martin, at home, and. Jack in Korea; also three sisters and a brother, El- sie (Mrs. A. Seabrook), Owen Sound; Myrtle (Mrs. Jack Par- ker) Hayfield; Ivy (Mrs. Lorne Epps), and John, London, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Parker attended the funeral which was held in Windsor on June 25. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Hoggart and Son left last week for a trip to Halifax 'and Newfoundland. Rev, and Mrs. H. Trayer, of Toronto, spent a few days recently with Mr. and Mrs. Eph. Clarke. Master Ronald Riley went to Scott Memorial Hospital on Mon- day, June 30, for tonsil operation. Mrs. Lorne Lawson, Mrs, Harry Boag, of Newmarket, visited on Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Johns, of Mitchell. Mrs. Myrtle Carnochan and Miss Beatrice Talaska, Eloise, Mich.,spent the weekend with Mr. and rs. Eph. Clarke. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne' Lawson and Mrs. Harry Boag, called on. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice McKee, of God- erich on Sunday evening. We were sorry - to hear Mrs. Ross McGregor's father was tak- en to Scott Memorial Hospital on Monday, June 30. We hope for a speedy recovery.
