Clinton Legionettes met Exe-
ter Ladies' Team at Clinton on
Friday evening last, but at the
end of four innings, play was
stopped because of ram, At that time Clinton was leading 2-0.
Clinton won a WOAA Inter-
mediate girls softball game in
Ilderton, June 23, from Ilderton,
14-9. The winners had two big
frames the third and fourth
when • e runs
in each inning, Castle with three
Ma and Ruth Glew with two
doubles paced the Legionettes.

with a plus of eight. Caryl Dra-
per apd Mrs. W. Elliott were at the same tourney and their score was two games with a plus, of 12.

Two CDCI Students
To Attend Camp
Two students from Clinton
District Collegiate Institute, Jo-
anne Castle and Jerry Tebbutt,
have been picked to attend the
Department of Education Ontar-
io athletic training camp.
Joanne is attending the girls'
camp, which is held the first
two weeks to July, and Jerry the
boys' camp held the following
two weeks.
The camp is operated by the
physical education branch.of the
department as a leadership train-
ing camp, for the purpose of pro-
viding leadership training in
school and community activities,
with emphasis on the administ-
ration, officiating, teaching, and
coaching of athletics.

Colts Capture Pair
During Past Week
Clinton Colts played host to
the Lucan nine, Thursday night,
in a Huron-Perth Baseball leag-
ue game, and defeated the visit- b
ors by a Wore of 3.2.
Doug Bartliff, on the mound
for Clinton, struck out seven bat- t
ters, while , walking wily two, and
on the hitting department came
through with a triple and a
double out of three trips to the
plate.
Bill Craig of the Colts had a
perfect night at bat, sacrificing
the first time up, and getting two
,singles and a triple, For Lecan,
Bruner led in the hitting, getting
a double and a single in four
tries.
The Lucan infield showed some
excellent fielding, executing fast
double-plays in the third and
seventh innings.

.Clare Maltby Attends
Banff Cadet Camp
Sixteen Western Ontario army
cadets, are. among those who
spend three weeks training at
Banff this summer as a reward
for outstanding work in their re-
spective cadet corps during the
year.
They will attend Central Com-
mand Cadet Camp at Camp Ip-
perwash July 9-17 for outfitting
for their western trip.
Included in the list are Cadet
Sgt. Clare Maltby, No. 1943 Palm-
erston High School Cadet Corps,
formerly of Clinton: and Cadet
CSM Gordon Rowland,. Seaforth. ,
No. 1 R. & C, S. /Wolf Cub Pack
The R.C,A.F. Clinton Cub Pack
held their last meeting for the
summer but will resume their
meetings again ib the fall when
school starts. Under the super-
vision of Cub Master O. Johnson
apd Assistant Cub Master P,
English, the following bays Pass-
ed their tenderpad tests, Pat
Cook, Rod Rutherford, Billy
Graham, Dale Gatinger and Billy
Miller. Several of the boys earn-
ed their first star tests and are
welt on in their second star tests.
The softball team played a game
against the Clinton Lions Cub
Pack but the game 'was very
disasterous for the Pack.
Hikes will be held for the Air
Force Pack during the summer
months.
Clinton Lions' Cub Pack
The Clinton Lions Cub Pack
held its regular meeting at the
Wesley. Willis 'United Church
Basement. In addition to the
regulaa,Cubmaster and assistants
present Cpl. Chip Dale of R.C.
A..F. Clinton was down to assist
in the meeting. Scoutmaster F.
Churchill was a visitor to see
how the pack was progressing.
After the "Grand Howl" and in-
spection •the pack had a game of
O'Grady Says and another team
game. Classwork followed in
which John Sharp, Wayle Greig
and Lewis Ling passed their
thrift tests. Wayne Greig also
passed his shoe shining test. Aft-
er a story about Sheer Khan, the
tiger by Baloo the pack was led
in the Grand Howl by Barry Mc-
Laren. Following pack prayer
the Cubs were dismissed and sent
straight home. All Pack metn-
hers will be pleased to hear that
the Pack will, continue its meet-
ings all through the summer
without a break. The meetings
will be mostly used to pass tests
and for extra instruction. It is
hoped that it will be possible to
arrange swimming parades later
on in the summer.
Clinton Lions Scout Troup
The Clinton Lions Scouts are
very buty at the moment with
First Aid. All 25 Scouts are
taking the Junior First Aid
Course. Scoutmaster P. Churchill
who has been on the Wallace
Nesbitt Competition teams will
instruct them in the initial stages
and Doctor Addison will. instruct
and examine them in the more
advanced work. Mr. Nutt of
Stratford will be the final ex-
aminer for the St. John's first aid
certificate. Scoutmaster Churchill
hopes to be able to develop a
first aid team that will be able
to compete against other provinc-
ial teams for the Nesbitt Trophy.
GOING TO OLYMPICS
Sgt. Jack Varaleau, physical
training instructor at RCAF Sta-
tion, Clinton, and a resident of
the town, plans to leave July 7
en route to the Olympic games to
defend his weightlifting champ-
ionship.. An article in connect-
ion with his training programme
was published in The NEWS-
RECORD a short time ago,
Port Albert Takes One
From Londesboro
Londesboro B.A.'s lost a closely
contested game when Port Al-
bert handed them a defeat in
Londesboro on Tuesday night.
Port Albert got the lead in the
early stages of the game having
a six run lead which the B.A's
gradually whittled down until
the final outcome which was 8-7
Tigert and Bowden hit homers
for Port Albert. Carter and
Cowan were on the mound for
the B.A's while Bowden and.
Chisholm pitched for Port Albert.
Bays Take Bus Trip
To Eastern Ontario.

livestock pidging ,competitions,
and as a result, will partipipate
in the Junior Farmers' bus trip
to Eastern Ontario.

hero, actually held the highest score, but because he was win-
ner last year, he offered the trip
to the next. highest warm.
The boys ranked -highest for a
combined score of two years
judging in both , seed and livestock
judgipg competition.

Patience of hard-working, And unsung, wives of Huron County
Council members, who toil in the
ome while their husbands tackle
candy -administration, is going to
be rewarded.
This move was advocated by
Warden Harvey Johnston, who
suggested wives shoeld Do hon-
ored with an invitation to attend
the annual warden's banquet,
Council approved this recom-
mendation which was embodied
in a report from the warden's
committee.
A further thange in banquet
procedure also was passed. The
county will finance the event, re-
moving payment by the Warden
who was later reimbursed by
council members.
