Sdne spring she *as ill and not
able to return to her little Cot-

arrived, she found that Wh
en
flow-
er garden which she enjoyed so
much, had been desecrated by
petty thieves—her favourite rose-
bush, peonies, etc„ had been dig-
ged out She'd tended those flow-
ers for years until they seemed
a part of herself. And the loss
of them caused' untold grief to
this gentle old soul. If' persons
tempted to rob another's garden
would but recall the Golden Rule
a poignant tale told us by the all would be well!

Flowers Missing! „
When Mrs. George Hopson Went
out to her flower bed between
the corner of her shop and the
living-rOom door, on Sunday
morning to pick two choice Iris
for a floral basket'for St. And-
rew's United Church, to her dis-
may, she, found that the flowers
had gone, plant and all. One
Was a pure white which she had
watched unfold its first bloom.
Apparently some lover of Iris
coveted those varieties so strong-
ly that he or she broke another
commandment to secure theM.
And the church also Was robbed
of a gift of natural beauty.
This nefarious practide of help-
ing oneself to other's plants has
been going on over the years,
We've heard of whole rows of
delphinium, beds of regale lilies,
rose bushet, peonies, phlox, bulbs
and even little English daisies
disappearing overnight. Do not
persons who thus pilfer realize
that the flowers mean just as
much, if not more, to the person
who planted them with tender
care and watched them grow?
We'll never forget, years ago,
Clinton, Ontario
