attending the Annual Convention

tario and Quebec, in session at
Adelaide Street Baptist Church,

and Master Kenneth, visited with
Chatham friends on Sunday, one
of whom was Mr. William Simp-
son, Kenny's great-great-grand-
father, 94 years old and active as
a man of 70.
M. J. Snider,_son of Mr. and
Mrs. John Snider, Albert Street,
principal of Meaford public
school, was among those who
were successful in Education and
Vocational Guidance in the 1952
course in pedagogy of the On-
tario College of Education, Uni-
versity of Toronto.
Among recent graduates of the
University of Wekern Ontario,
was Robert J. Evans, son of
Erskine S. Evans, principal of St.
Mar?r's Collegiate Institute and
Mrs. Evans; and grandson of Dr.
and Mrs. J. S. Evans, Clinton.
Robert has accepted a position
with -the Atomic Energy Commis-
sion, Chalk River, and has arriv-
ed there to begin his new work.
Mr. and Mrs. William McMil-
lan and Miss Gertrude, Saskatoon,
Sask., and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey
Grummett, Grandora, Sask., spent
the past week visiting their cous-
ins, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Far-
quhar, Base Line; their uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Far-
quhar, Clinton; and other rela-
tives in Clinton, Lucknow, God-
erich and Seaforth. They now
have left for Collingwood and
Kingston, before starting their
return journey to Western Can-
ada.
Mrs. E. Wendorf is having a
piano recital, given by her pupils
in Ontario Street United Church
on Monday evening, June 16, at
8.15 o'clock.

Miss Marion Hill, daughter of
Mr, and Mrs. Lyle 1011, Varna,.
was a meMber of the 75th grad-
uating class of the Mack Training
School for N paws, St, Catharines..
Graduating exercises were laeld
in the auditorium of St. Cath-
arines Collegiate when Hon. Paul
Martin, Federal Minister of
Health and Welfare, addressed the
graduating class. Miss Hill won
the highest award in her class
for bedside nursing.
Those attending frorn.the vicin-
ity were Mr. and Mrs, Lyle Hill
and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hill,
Varna; Mrs. A. R. Hill and Miss
Ruth Scott, Brucefield; Rev, and

Hill was held after the" exercises
at the hemp of Mrs. Robert Green,

Management Meeting
The Sunday School Board of
Management of Ontario Street
Church held its June meeting at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. George
Potter with the superintendent,
Charles Stewart, ' presiding, A
hymn and prayer opened the
meeting, followed by the lesson
read by Mrs. Potter from Luke
19: 1-10. Chapter• four of the.
Study Book• was ably taken by
Mrs. 3. Gilbank.
The minutes were received as
read and discussion followed on
numerous subjects. It was report-
ed a donation had been sent to
the Picot family and anniversary
collection $71. It was decided to
purchase blinds to facilitate the
use of the lantern.
Sending delegates to camp and
suggestions for the picnic which
was set °for August 13 (subject
to change) were left over for the
July meeting at Mrs. Hoggart's
on July 2. Mrs. Olde reported on
the set up. Committees work on
a three year plan for re'-align-
ment of our Sunday School. A
chart showing the conclusions
was displayed and explained and
recommendations read to help
improve our set-up.
A delicious lunch was served
by the host and hostess and a
pleasant half-hour spent. Court-
esy motions were extended by
G. Lavis and Miss Freeman.
Successful Activities

The Ladies' Orange Benevolent
Association. held its regular meet-
ing on Tuesday evening, June 11,
with a good attendance. Reports
were made of 'the last meeting.
$43 was received from the blanket
draw, and $12.75 from the penny
table. Proceeds are all to be used
for lodge work.
A special meeting will be held
on Tuesday evening, June 17,
when several members will be in-
itiated into the second degree.
Members, are all urged to be
present and the degree team is
asked to wear their long white
dresses.
Fifty Are Confirmed
By Bishop of London
Most Rev. J. C. Cody, Bishop
of London, paid an official visit
to St. Joseph's Church, Clinton,
and later conducted confirmation
ceremonies.
The procession of those to be
confirmed and their sponsors
marched into the church follow-
ed by the clerk and the bishop.
The parish's rector, Rev. J. L.
O'Rourke, welcomed Bishop Cody.
After a brief address the con-
firmation class consisting of 40
children from the Clinton parish,
St. Michael's Parish, Blyth, and
RCAF Station, Clinton, and ten
adults, were examined by Very
Rev. 3. A. Reney, chancellor of
the diocese of London. His Ex-
cellency then conferred upon the
50 candidates the Holy Sacrament
of confirmation.
Also present in the sanctuary
besides His Excellency the chan-
cellor, and the pastor of the
church were Father J. P, Glea-
son, Goderich; Father S. W. Toth,
St. Augustine, and Father H. A.

CGIT Honour Mothers
At Fine Banquet
The. Canadian Girls in. Training
of Ontario Street 'United Church
.spent an enjoyable evening with
their mothers at their annual
Mother-a n d-Daughter Banquet
on Wednesday,. June 4.
They were •received in the
church by' Marlene Jervis, Margie
Ellen Lawson, Polly Jervis, Jane
Batkin, Janet Elliott and Cather-
ine Powell. The mothers were
escorted by their daughters to
the banquet hall where they were
served a delicious meal by the
Woman's Associatien headed by
Mrs. John Radford.
After dinner, toasts were pro-
posed: "The Queen" by Donna
Sharp followed by Nancy Powell
playing "God Save the Queen";
"The Church" by Catherine
Powell, with Rev. A. G. Eagle
replying; "The Mothers" by Janet
Elliott and Mrs. Powell replied;
"The Woman's Association" by
Jane Batkin, with Mrs. Radford
replying; "The Leaders" by Mar-
lene Jervis, replied to by Mrs.
A. G. Eagle; "The Girls" by Miss
Helen Hindley, replied to by
Polly Jervis.
Miss Hindley was presented
With a farewell gift of a silver
butter dish by 'Jane Batkin and
Ruth Glazier.
The next part of the program-
me which was thoroughly enjoy-
ed by all was the sing-song led
by the girls, Rev. A. Glen Eagle
showed some very interesting
slides on Camp Life. Gary Liver-
more rendered a very delightful
solo, "The Maiden's Wish."
Miss Daly, provincial secretary,
was the guest of honour and gave
a very interesting talk on the be-
ginning of CGIT right through, tic)
the plans they have for the fu-
ture.
Thereasa Guetter opened t h e
Worship service by repeating
Luke 2 : 52, Gayle Murray read
the Scripture and Margie Lawson
told the story. Marilyn Ashton
led the mothers and girls in
prayer.
The CGIT hymn, was sung;
then everyone joined hands and
sang "Taps" which ,closed the
very enjoyable evening.

The Woman's Association of
Wesley-Willis United Church will
meet in the church parlour on
the afternoon of June 19 at three
o'clock. A strawberry tea will
be served. Members may bring a
guest.

Donates $1,500
The Ladies' Auxiliary to the
Canadian Legion, Clinton, met in
the Legion Hall on Monday even-
ing, June 9. Mrs, S. E. Castle
presided and minutes were read
by Mrs. William Jervis.
A motion was passed to give
$1,500 to the Canadian Legion. "to-
wards the building fund, when it
was needed.
Mrs. Alex Haddy draped the
charter in memory of Miss Dolly
Shaw._
Bills, financial statement, cor-
respondence and "thank-you"
cards were read, Reports on the
bingos held every Saturday night
were made. They are to continue
with three jackpots to, be won.
Two delegates - Mrs. S. E.
Castle and Mrs. Bert Stanley -
are to attend the Provincial Com-
mand Auxiliary Convention in
Brockville in October.
The survey, in behalf of the
Tuberculosis Clinic, has been
completed in St. John's Ward.
Plans for a bazaar and for a bed-
spread raffle, to be held in Sept-
ember, were discussed.
Duetts by Bonny Tomlinson
and Patsy Valareau, and a solo
by Patsy Valareau, interspersed
the evening, which closed with a
social half hour.

TAKE BUS TOUR
Tuckersmith Ladies' Club in-
vited members of the Stanley
Ladies' Club to join them on a
bus tour to Guelph on Tuesday,
June 10. About 34 ladies alto-
gether enjoyed the ride there.
They visited the Ontario Agri-
cultural College, did a little
shopping, and returned home that
evening.
