A former resident of Goderich
and of Goderich Township, Geo-
rge Laurier Dyke, Springville,
Iowa, visited at the home of his,
cousin, John A. Torrance, over
the weekend. He was accomp-
anied by Mrs. Dyke, formerly of
Toronto.
James Robert Nott, son of Mr.
and Mrs. A. E. Garrioch, Wind-
sor, was baptized on Sunday, June
1, at St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church by the Rev. D. J. Lane,

ertained at a family dinner fol-
lowing the ceremony,

Holds G004 Meeting
The regular monthly meeting
of the Young Mothers' Study
Group was held in WesleYeWillts United Church parloure en 'Tues-
day, ,Tune 3.
Mrs, H. C. Wilson, Who was in
charge, opened the meeting with
hymn 562 followed by psalm 699
read in unison. Mrs, Nelson Tre-
wartha led in prayer,
Minutes of the April meeting
were read by Mrs. Percy Liver, more. Mrs. L. Haughten read
the Scripture, Proverbs 31, 10-12, 25-35, This was an exception,
ally lovely piece of Scripture,
Mrs, Elmer Hugill sang "In the
Garden."
Mrs, Wilson read an article
entitled "Susanna Wesley, a
Great Mother," and gave a num-
ber of points to bear in mind
when raising a family';
let Set a good example. The
way to teach children to be
Christians is to be good Christ-
ian yourself,
Never deceive your children, 3, Insist upon ob•edience. 4. Avoid scolding; encourage
your children as much as possible;
exercise patience.
5. Do- things with your child-ren.
6, Have family worship.
7. DO" not gossip,
8. Don't coddle your children.
9. Have good literature in the
home and take turns reading
aloud.
10,Don't be afraid to apologise
to your children if you are wrong,
11, Have family conferences,
' 12. Let the family share your,
confidence about expenditures. 13. Don't have favourites, 14. Show your children you
love them.
15. Give your children. an al-
lowance so they may learn to
handle money.
The meeting closed with the
singing of hymn 341 followed by
the Mizpah benediction.
Mrs. Wilson conducted a con-
test about "Mothers of the Bible"
after which lunch was served by
Mrs. William Grigg, Mrs. William
Holland, and Mrs. Irene McCall.
The June meeting will be held
at Mrs. William Murch's. Mrs.
William Holland will be in
charge of the meeting, with Mrs.
William Murrh and Mrs. Fred
Miller as hostesses.

The Clintonian Club will meet
on Wednesday afternoon, June 11,

Literature Avalaible
Mrs. Mirehouse, London, Dio-
cesan Educational Secretary, gave
a very fine address on the books
and literature available to the
branches. Mrs. Stewart Middleton
Clinton,gave a resume of educa-
tional work carried on in the
Deanery.
Pot-Luck Picnic
Mrs. Mae Rance MacKinnon,
Clinton, spoke briefly on the
Deanery WA. pot-luck picnic to
be held at Huron Church Camp,
Hayfield, on June 25, and appeal-
ed for a shower of books for
children, pets, pans, aprons, etc.
Mrs. R. M. P. Bulteel moved a
vote of thanks to the retiring
officers of the Deanery. The in-
vitation to hold the fall meeting
in Gorrie was accepted. Follow-
ing the adjournment those pres-
ent enjoyed a cup of tea and
social half-hour in the basement.
Mrs. M. Swanson, retiring Dean-
ery, WA president, was presented
by the hostess breeches with a
bouquet of My-of-the-valley.

Purchasers placed tickets in the

favoured. When the time for the
draw came, tickets were shaken
up in the cup, a draw was' made,
and the winner took home the
gift,
Pictures were taken of the
degree team by MacLaren's Stud-
io. A good time was had by all
those present.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth
II is celebrating her birthday on
Monday, June 9, This day has
been declared a Government
holiday in Canada, and as such
allows banks and Post Offices to
close.
"Holiday hours at Clinton Post
Office," Morley Counter, Post-
master,. states, "will be from 4.30
to 11.30 in the morning and from
12,30 to 2.30 in the afternoon. The
