This was one of the closest
games ever played in the CDCI
gymnasium. It was -9-5 for Strat-
ford at the end of the first quar-
ter, 1443. for .Clinton at half
time, 23-22 for Clinton at the
three-quarter mark, and at the
end of regulation time the score
was tied 29-29.
After three minutes of over-
time play the score was Strat-
ford 35—Clinton 31,
Tilennon with nine points and
Waddell with eight were the high
scorers for Stratford, while J.
Porter with 12 and J. Wilson with
seven, were the high scorers for
the losers. There was a total of
46 fouls called in the game,

RCAF staged a real hockey thril-
ler in •Clinton Lions Arena Tues-
day evening before .a huge crowd.
Remarks heard during and after
the game, were that it was one of
the fastest games on Clinton ice
for many a year.
Centralia forced the game into
overtime by scoring three goals
in the third period with none
being scored by the Colts, Colts
led 4-1 at the end of the second
period; 2-1 at the end of the first.
Two of Centralia's third period
goals were off the stick of Randy
the Airmen's fast-skating
centreman, who, incidentally
was on the ice for most of the
game.
Clinton's top scorer for the
night was the oldest man on the
Colts' roster, Bob Draper, who
scored three times and got an
assist. Harry McEwan scored
twice and had one assist. But
the big goal of the game was•
scored by Danny Colquhoun with
eight minutes of the Overtime
period gone, Incidentally, this
was Colquhoun's first goal this
season,

CDCI Trims Seaforth
In Three Matches
Clinton DCI basketball teams
played three scheduled HSSA
basketball games in Seaforthon
Thursday last, As it turned out,
Clinton came out on top in all
three games.
Clinton Juniors 47—Seaforth 25
In the first half of the game
the teams seemed to be evenly
matched but Clinton's superior
defensive ability showed itself in
the second half.
D. Ladd was high scorer for
the winners with 18 points, fol-
lowed by °John Hartley with
eight. McMillan, with 19 points,
was high scorer for Seaforth,

to play basketball as they de-
feated Seaforth 40-9.

points was high scorer for the
losers.

In a hard-fought contest, Clin-
ton Seniors defeated Seaforth
Seniors 35-33. It was nip-and-
tuck all the way with both teams
providing thrill after thrill for
the excited crowd.
Jack Porter with 15 pointi,
was high scorer for Clinton, while
Stewart with ten and Jacobi with
eight, were the high scorers for
Seafoith.

Stratford Junior and Senior
boys teams paid a visit to Clin-
ton for exhibition games with
CDCIC Junior and' Senior boys'
teams on Friday last. As, a re-
sult, thg Junior boys have one
more win and the Senior boys
one more loss this season.

Stratford were not familiar
with the Clinton gymnasium and
as a result they took too long to

Three CDCI Teams
Defeat Wingham
The' HSSA schedule continued
in the Clinton DCI gymnasium
as Wingham and Clinton played
three games. When it was all
over Clinton had won all three
by comfortable margins.
Clinton Girls 30—Wingham 3
This game was Clinton's from
the first, as the score would in-
dicate. J. Castle with 12 points
and M. Hunking with seven were
the offensive stars; while D.
Bunking and B. Parke starred on
the defence for Clinton. P.
Brophy with two pdints was high
scorer for Wingham.

This game was closely contest-
ed though Clinton had much the
edge in the scoring. Wingham
never gave up, however, which
made the game more interesting.
Three Clinton played played good
games. J. Hartley scored 16 points
and stole the ball time after time
from Wingham players. A. Mit-
chell scored six points and also
starred on defence. K. Gibbings
with seven points starred on both
defence and offence. Campbell
with three points starred for
Wingham along •with K. Gregg.

Juniors Important
On Fair Boards
Blyth Agricultural Society held
its annual meeting in the Orange
Hall, Blyth, with a large attend-
ance. The president, Gilbert
Nethery, presided.
I Tentative dates ,for the fair
were set as Sept. 17 and 18. The
meeting adjourned to be resum-
ed February 2.

OVER ST. MARYS TEAM
Hensall made an early 3-0 lead
stand. up at St. Marys Monday
night to score a 6-5 InterMediate
WOAA "A" win over the St.
Marys hockey team.

OVER DASIIWOOD
Hensel' defeated Dashwood 8-2
in a clean game of WOAA Int-
ermediate "A" hockey, which saw
only four penalties. Harrison
scored three goals for the "hat
trick"; %Sangster and Hildebrand
scored two goals each and Knight
one. For, the losers, J. Hayter and
Willert were the marksmen.

Clinton Seniors and Wingham
Seniors battled all the way
though the score would not in-
dicate that. Both teams played
well on both offence and defence.
Clinton players starred through-
out. J. Wilson, Clinton's starry
guard, scored ten points and was
a standout on defence. C. Talbot
scored ten points and made in-
numerable set-ups for his team-
mates. J. Porter starred offen-
sively with eleven points and
played a great defensive game.
Hanna and Saxton played good
games for Wingham offensively
and defensively.

Clinton RCAF team showed
plenty of fire and revealed good
prospects for the play-off series '
with Kincardine next week, as
they clicked to a 9-7 victory over
the group-leading Wingham Mo-
hawks in Clinton Lions Arena
last night.
The crowd was large and en-
thusiastic, and all got their
money's worth.
The teams were tied 2-2 at
the end of the first period, and
Wingham led 4-3 at the end of
Londesboro Lose

A crowd of half-frozen spec-
tators watched Lucknow Sepoys
come from behind in the third
period to gain a 10-8 victory over
the Londesboro B-A's in a clos-
ely-contested hockey match play-i
ed in Blyth arena Monday night.
B-A's opened fire early in the
game when Lee scored on an
assist from Carter, Sepoys soon
tied things up and from then
on the game see-sawed back and
forth with first one team being
ahead and then the other.
At one time the B-A's had a
three-goal lead which they were
unable to hold.
Lee set the scoring 'pace for
the B-A's, collecting five goals.
Watson, Radford and Johnston
collected the other three. Chis-
holm and Chin each collected
two for the opposition.
