Rev. W. J. Maines, minister of
the church, acted as chairman,
for the evening.
Junior members of the choir
who sang were: Thelma Baird,
Verna Eyre, Ruth Snelling and
Margie Zapfe; Orrin Baird re-
cited "Soap, the Oppressor", and
received an ovation for his ef-

much enjoyed.
The programme included piano

After the singing of "God Save

Mrs. N. Baird, convener, served
a delicious and satisfying lunch
of sandwiches, tarts and coffee.
The coffee was enjoyed, especial-
ly, as the audience had an op-

"One of our biggest problems
is the ever-increasing amount of
traffic, and the parking question
has become acute. It is hoped
that before next summer the
Council will have the parking
space behind the Town Hall
levelled out. If this done, there
will be sufficient space to park
at least 30 cars and will relieve
the congestion on main streets.
"There is a large number of
`stop' signs missing from streets
which lead on to the main high-
ways, and I suggest that these
be replaced as soon as practic-
able.
'
"It is to be hoped that every
effort will be made to have sig-
nal traffic lights erected at the
main inferesection. In addition
to regulating the flow of traffic
across the/ junction and avoid
congestion, they would enable
pedestrians, especially children
and older people, to cross in
comparative safety. If and when
this is done, I would suggest that
Isaac Street be made a `one-way"
street with no east-going traffic."
